A Reserve took on top-of-the-table Penguin at Dial Park, and it didnβt take long for the boys to make an impact with the ball. Matt Last came out firing, ripping through the top order early to have Penguin reeling at 3-13.
The pressure didnβt ease from there, with tight, disciplined bowling making scoring extremely difficult. Last finished with a superb 3-16 from his 9 overs, well supported by Rushton Upton who bowled five maidens on his way to a brilliant 2-6 from his allotted overs. Despite some resistance through the middle, Penguin were restricted to 126, giving us a target the boys were confident chasing.
With the bat, we continued our strong form against a quality Penguin attack. Jordan Marshall anchored the innings with a classy 58, while David Sultas played his usual calm role with an unbeaten 34*, guiding the side home with more than 10 overs to spare and only three wickets down.
A professional performance that keeps our double chance alive and builds strong momentum heading into week two of finals.

B Grade lost the toss and were sent into bat, but it didnβt take long for the boys to make Penguin pay for that decision. Runs came freely early, with several batters getting starts before Laurie βlike the πβ Williams took control of the innings.
Laurie was outstanding, bringing up a classy unbeaten 102 β his first century in around 16 years β while Joel Miles (29), Reg Woodiwiss (23) and Lachie Davies (27) all partnered well to build a strong foundation. Late fireworks from Logan Bramich (21* off 14 balls) pushed the total out to an imposing 252.
Defending a big score, the bowlers struck early to have Penguin 3-20 and immediately on the back foot. Penguin fought hard, led by a century of their own, but the required run rate kept climbing and the pressure eventually told. Harvey Murray was the chief destroyer with 4-26, well supported by Thomas Richards and Stephen May as the boys secured a big finals win and moved through to the next week.
