🏁 QDRC Rd 6 – Super Street 🏁
What a round last Saturday!
Came away with the Runner-Up trophy in Round 6 of the QDRC in Super Street at Willowbank Raceway, and it couldn’t have been any closer… lost the final by just .001 of a second! 🤏🏻
I had cat-like reactions on the tree all day with an average light for the round of just .025 seconds, top qualified with a .009 reaction then backed it up in Q2 with a perfect .000 reaction on the tree! 🎄
It wasn’t all smooth sailing though, we were nursing a lazy L*D pack in the old AMC20 rear end after Crew Chief Brianna picked up some abnormalities in the burnout process early on. After some quick investigation (and a strategic phone call to the AMC WOM), we made the call to press on with the event, and it paid off!
Now those that know me (and the car) will also know I’ve always had my concerns about the rear end. But after hundreds of thousands of street miles in its early life and now 443 quarter-mile passes, it really hasn’t had a bad run, especially for what’s basically a boy trying to do a man’s job! 😂
Time for an upgrade now, we’ll move to a race-prepped sheetmetal 9” rear end for added strength, reduced weight, and the flexibility to run a gear ratio better suited to the engine instead of the current compromise.
