2026 Brisbane Jamboree

We went into the weekend with a first qualifier on Friday, off the trailer went 8.18 @ 157mph which saw Rod PB BARRY. Through to Saturday we got two qualifiers in which saw Rod run a 8.22 and a 8.21 on the 1/4mile. We were happy with the car and went into a round of racing. We had a bye run with our first race competitor having some small issues with their car. Rod PB’d the car again 8.17 @ 160mph. The second round of racing on Sunday saw us draw another solo and we began having some wheelie issues which saw us chasing wheelie bar adjustments for the rest of the day. Two from two, saw us race the third round, but hand the win over as we still couldn’t get the wheelie bar adjustments dialled. We went into the final against Max Carpenter an all Ford final, but another wheelie and some pedalling from Rod to keep it off the wall saw Max take the win. Ending the weekend with a Top Qualifier for the second year in a row “baby J” & a runner up J in the finals.

Thanks to Col and all the great people that go outta their way to organise such a great event each year. Simpson that track was killer, I need to find some tyre speed !

Thank you to my lovely family for there support to help out so much to get me to start line each time, camp out in the cold, and some times hot, with out you it wouldn’t happen we just keep making great memories.

56th Winternationals 2024

Our first entered Winternats. Our first Qualifier went out on the track, Rod entered the beams, off he went, soon hitting the limiter all the way to the deep end, mid pass noticing the burnout rev limiter was still set on. Down the deep end we gathered and realised what happened. Back to the pits to prep and adjust a few things for our second qualifier. Second qualifier we come back and the car was running better now it’s not on 5800rpm limiter. With a fuel pill change in the fuel control make it happier and new plugs we were set for our 3rd qualifier on Friday. Soon enough Friday was here & out we went to the track with Rod making his best qualifier of 8.27 at 159mph close to its PB. Happy with the set up, we prepped the car for our first round racing for Saturday. First round of racing was here at 8:30am and we went out to the track. With the weather being cool, along with the track, Rod went out and set into the beams. Unfortunately with a cherry and wheel spin after the 60ft mark and big look towards centre line we were out in the first round.

Would like to give a huge Thankyou to Dalby Engine Rebuilders and the crew, Shelly & Fran some dear friends and my family to be beside me threw the highs and lows, my uncle Buck Tony Buckley and Aunty Raelene Buckley for the encouragement, the help and the chats even though we didn’t get your dragster down the track the way we wanted. I reckon Tony Wedlock upside down dash we borrowed wanted to do Mickey flip yet again, the drive from good friend Chris Sankey Rod Chucker we make the best race car seat inserts in south east Qld. but Chris seeing you grow to were you are with your altered keeps the dream of making my s**t tin better every time !

Jamboree 2023

What an eventful weekend. We were set & ready for a fun filled weekend full of racing, turned into spinning spanners non stop. Lean fuel mixtures Saturday saw us replace the burst plate seal and an Intake manifold gasket, along with other issues. Sunday morning first round, saw Rod make the first and only good pass of the weekend, 8.45 @ 145MPH. Still not on the money, but we couldn’t complain with it going A to B and doing the right things. Round 3 saw the car completely off it’s game and ended the weekend with a locked blower. Something has gone in & unfortunately seized it. That’s racing, some are good meets some are just down right frustrating.

The positives from this weekend, we have a crank in one piece still, and we all made it there and back safely. Along with doing it with family which is where we began and will forever be thankful for.

Back to the shed to work these issues out. 🏁
