Sometime life hands you lemons.
Mikko's weekend at the QLD state titles started off on the back foot, qualifying well off the pace in 43rd from 52 drivers. Perhaps a combination of lack of seat time over the past month, or inexperience with the ultra sticky track. Either way, to make the top 40 final, we knew we needed and top 20 minimum in each race to have any chance
Race 1 Mikko was a tad race rusty, being a tad overly cautious, moving from 23 to finish 20th. A post race drop down bumper penalty moved him back to 22nd π
Race 2, Mikko got back into gear and raced hard, but fair. Moving from p23 to finish 16th ππ
Race 3 was the make or break race. Again Mikko was racing brilliantly moving from p23 to 18th. Unfortunately on the last lap, on the last straight, with 2 corners to go, a "banana peel" on the track spun him around Mario kart style, resulting in a DNF and destroying any chance of making the finals π€¬
Mikko was gutted, but that's racing and we learnt a lot from the entire experience. We are pumped to come back even stronger for the next race ππ
Well done to the Ipswich Kart Club, Karting QLD and all officials and volunteers for putting on a cracking event π
