RIP to my mentor Monty Roberts. You were one of the greatest horsemen and horse whisperers of all time. "The Man Who Listens To Horses" I shed many a tear knowing that your life has come to an end but your memory will stay with me forever. You are the reason I am who I am today πŸ’”πŸ˜πŸ’”πŸ˜πŸ’”πŸ˜
As you would say "Anybody can be a horse whisperer, as long as they are open to listening and learning. The language Equus is predictable, discernible and effective". πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

10 weeks since giving our lovely Andalusian boy Sancho a new start in life and we are finally getting on top of his external pain, his numerous gut ulcers including hind gut and his ear pain.
His education is coming along nicely and our bond is growing stronger by the day πŸ’™ This has given him so much confidence which is helping to reduce his anxiety. Because of this I felt he was ready to turn the page to the new chapter in his road to recovery.
His ridden work has started πŸ˜ƒ
Baby steps as he is uneducated under saddle, quite stiff to the right and knows no leg aids so its all voice at the moment. πŸ€”
I genuinely couldn't be happier with him today from catching to dismounting. He really is such a BEAUTIFUL boy who is eager to learn and just wants to be loved πŸ’™ He gets loads of Spanish love πŸ˜ƒπŸ–€β€οΈπŸ’›

This week saw so many positive steps moving forward in Sancho's education. He has learnt to lunge using 2 reins followed by learning to long rein in the roundyard. We gradually transitioned from the roundyard to the driveway around the barn and eventually into the obstacle paddock while staying lovely and calm throughout the whole process.
Asking him to stand quietly in the wash bay while gearing him up is still a work in progress but each day he is showing a tiny bit of improvement.
On Sunday he happily accepted the bridle without throwing his head or turning away from me refusing to be bridled. What a good boy πŸ’™
This I felt was our greatest achievement to date πŸ˜ƒ
I do wonder what on earth or who on earth has ever caused him obvious pain and so much anxiety when he sees gear of any sort. It's so very sad to think that all Sancho's issues have been human related 😭
Sunday saw another milestone achieved with Sancho being schooled in the obstacle paddock with all other horses TOTALLY out of sight. This was a first for him as his extreme anxiety and lack of confidence fed into a vicious cycle of self doubt.
We had 1 mini dummy spit but nothing we couldn't work through and no wanting to flee the situation which was something Sancho would religiously do.
We finished on a positive note with him calm and relaxed and patient. The one thing I never thought Sancho would ever be πŸ’™ It's amazing to watch Sancho transforming from a very naughty, bad mannered, stressed, and on the verge of being a dangerous horse full of anxiety with no appetite and no confidence into a calm happy and content horse who now has manners and who's confidence is building with a super appetite πŸ˜‚
Onwards and upwards from here πŸ’™

Our weekend was extremely enjoyable and busy as we continued the education with these 2 youngsters. We saw moments of excellence as they carefully navigated their way steering around obstacles, incorporated carrots stretches with pilates, mounted and dismounted and worked on that fine line between not enough pressure and too much pressure. There was also some very bad behaviour at times but thats youngsters for you 🀣 Our job is to help them understand how to manage their thought process to a peaceful acceptance.

Wendy Hall and her gorgeous youngster Navaar who are our second Azteca Adventure Park duo to start their ridden career this year has just transitioned from the round yard to the arena and what a day to do it !!! On our Obstacle Fun Day of all days πŸ˜‚Navaar has always loved his obstacle playground so felt as happy as Larry and right at home with his owner Wendy on his back as he navigated some of his favorite obstacles with ease. What a good boy he is and what a massive journey this has been for Wendy and all our regular private lesson ladies who have been supporting Wendy and each other throughout their journey's with both their youngsters and seasoned competition horses. πŸ₯° I am so very proud of you Wendy and thoroughly enjoy watching your confidence grow πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
