ss riders started out in BMX. Who are we? We are a community based not for profit club run by
volunteers, with the aim of promoting the sport of BMX within the local and

Age Groups: Mini Wheelers: 2-7yrs, ride on Strider /Balance bikes
Sprocket Rockets: 3-7yrs, ride non-competitively on peddle bikes. Challenge: 8+, ride competitively for points towards end of season trophies. Riders 8 & over are grouped to race against riders of similar age. Racing: Under 18’s must have a parent or guardian present for all racing
and other club events.
- Race Calendars are pinned to the top of our page and can be
found at the Canteen & Nom Hut.
- All riders must have a current Auscycling license and nominate and pay on
the day of racing.
- Racing is usually held on Saturday through the warmer months and Sunday
in winter.
- Nominations/registration are usually open: Saturday night, Noms -
5:30pm, racing under lights starts around 6:30pm. Sundays, Noms - 9.45am,
racing starting at 11.00am.
- St John or Senior first aiders attend each race meeting and other club
events. Girls and boys race separately where classes and numbers permit. Training: Accredited coaches provide training most weeks. Check our page for updates. Monday’s: Mini Wheelers 6 – 6:15pm, Beginners 6:15 – 7pm, Intermediate +
riders 7-8pm. Wednesday Evening: Mini Wheelers 6:15 – 6:30pm, Open gate practice (All
ages & skills) 6:30 – 7:30pm. Our club canteen is open for all racing & other club events. Bike Requirements: 20” BMX bike for standard race classes and/or 24”
bike for Cruiser classes. No accessories such as chain guard, reflectors,
stands, stunt pegs, bells, baskets etc. Handlebar ends must be plugged. Safety Equipment: Correctly fitting full-face helmet. Gloves, closed in
shoes, long sleeve shirt and long pants or knee and shin pads with shorts can
be worn whilst you are on a 4week free license. Mini wheelers can use open face helmets that are Australian Standards Certified but we recommend a full
face helmet. Gawler BMX Club has some loan bikes, helmets and gloves available to get you started. These are available for use while you are starting out but the number of items are limited. When you upgrade to a Mini Wheeler, open or sprocket license, you must be trying to source your own. equipment.
2023 Costs:
• Licenses are available through Auscycling. This allows rider to ride at any track in Australia and any cycling discipline. Adults have the option of purchasing an “Off Road”
license which allows participation at BMX, Mountain Bike and
Cyclocross events.
• There is now a 4 week FREE trial license and after that time a yearly
license will need to be purchased. There is also the option for
monthly payments.
• The cost for racing is currently $4 Mini Wheelers, $8 all other riders
and we have a family discount for 4 or more immediate family entries$26.
• Training sessions are Mini wheeler’s $2 & all others $5
• Open Gates Mini wheeler’s $2 for & $4 for all others
• We accept the SA Government $100 School Sports Voucher
