Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to spring! If only the weather would make up its stupid mind. Sigh.

Right, just a couple of housekeeping matters.

In case everyone isn't aware, we have a wheelie bin in the carpark where you can toss any deposits of manure left on the hardstand. Please do not toss it into the area under the trees.

And of late we've had a bit of a run on people leaving things behind when they go. Now, we do have a lost and found spot where we hold on to anything we discover at the end of the day, but we can't guarantee to find everything that's been forgotten so please, please, make sure you've collected everything before you go home!

Well, as far as I'm concerned Forrest Gump got it wrong. Life is not like a box of chocolates. Life is an out of control roller coaster ride - and all we can do is hang on tight and hope we don't get pitched over the side.

Having been dragged kicking and screaming towards accepting current circumstances beyond our control, it's my conflicted duty to announce that Lyndal and our boys are coming home.

On the one hand, are you kidding? It will be fabulous to have her back on the yard, fabulous to see her riding the boys, fabulous to start learning from her after everything she has experienced in her three years away. On the other hand, we were not ready for the UK adventure to end. Unfortunately, we could not defeat the British Home Office. It's that simple.

There's some stuff to take care of over the next few weeks, then the boys go into quarantine at Newmarket and Lyndal hops back on a plane to settle back in at home, and prepare for their arrival.

We'll keep you posted on what this all means for Ballodair Park, going forward.

It's NSW State Dressage titles time, and the Ballodair Park team wishes everyone the very best of luck.

We also send special congratulations to our coach, Caroline Hooper, and her beautiful boy Paris (Furst Sir) who took the Open Elementary championship yesterday.

Our very own Nikita (QS Furst Nikita) contends the Open Novice classes today, piloted by staff member Anna Thian. Another great transition from eventing to dressage. I get 'em all over to the D side eventually! *g*

It's a huge show, so thanks to everyone involved in making it happen.

Ok, here's a heads up! We have confirmed the last 3 fixture dates for dressage comps this year. How ridiculous is that????? We're running out of 2026 ...

So, they are: Saturday October 31st/Saturday November 28th/Friday December 11th and Saturday December 12th.

At this stage we're planning to be using the new comp arena for all those dates, with possibly something special planned for December. Stay tuned on that.

In the meantime, we'll be running some arena familiarisation days in September, so people can get used to the scary new competition arena.

More information as we get everything confirmed with all the moving parts!

Well, our second Riding Club dressage competition is done and dusted, and what a great event. 100 tests ridden over the 2 days, lots of great rides, a few exciting moments, much learned and much more to practice for!

Thanks to everyone who entered, all the judges, stewards and scribes. Thanks to the support crew for taking care of our officials and the Ballodair team for making sure we were ready to rock and roll. Special thanks to Karen Lever, the organising machine!

Our next dressage competition will be in October. Between now and then we'll be offering protocol days and arena familiarisation session. Stay tuned for details!

Have to say, I'm pretty astonished at the response we've had to the August dressage competition. Thank you so much to everyone who's entered!

Looking ahead, we anticipate we'll be using the new comp arenas from the next fixture, which will be in October. That means we'll be running a series of familiarisation days through September, because there's a lot of new and scary stuff over there, like judges' boxes and white boards and - gasp! - flowers! And grandstand seating and so forth.

Stay tuned for more details on that, we'll be opening bookings in a few weeks' time.

Looking forward to seeing you this week at the next comp. All the very best of luck to riders and horses!
