Aaliyah and her family are heading back home 😊

Though she didn't win her matches, Aaliyah had a great time in Queensland. After the Nationals she attended 5 training sessions at the Judo Australia training camp. We've been told she learnt a lot and may be feeling a bit sore today 😁

We're keen to hear your stories, Aaliyah!

Thanks for the photo @rachelleewarner 😊🥋

We are very proud of her and can't wait to watch her
For those who wish to watch Aaliyah remotely, she will be first up at 8:30 (Qld time) on mat 2. The live stream link will be shared as soon as it becomes available.

This lady is off to the Judo Australia National Championships in Queensland!!!

Aaliyah is keen to compete and also very excited to go to the training camp in the days following the comp. It'll be a great opportunity for her to work on her techniques, learn new skills and make new friends. Even better, she'll be able to do all that while training with other girls. Something our senior group is rather short of.

Aaliyah, we wish you the best of luck at the Nationals! Your WJC family are very proud of you for representing SA and our club. It takes courage and a lot of hard work to get where you are and you do so with a smile on your face. Good luck, have fun and make new friends 🥰🥋

Want to cheer Aaliyah on from the comfort of your lounge? You can do so by watching the live stream on YouTube. We currently don't have the exact link, but the one below should take you to a page with the various mat areas:

We've had a few gradings happening. First of all, Nicholas - we swear, he does smile, just not for the camera - earned his yellow-white black-tip belt. Congratulation, Nicholas! Awesome job!

Adam progressed to orange with an excellent grading. Congrats!

She's got her uniform, she's got the patch for on her gi, so we can finally share the great news that Aaliyah has joined the State Team!!!!

Congratulations and well done, Aaliyah! We are very proud of you!

Anyone who's come across Aaliyah on the mats knows that she's very committed to her judo and from the start was determined to join the State Team (for starters!). It's not always easy as our senior class consists mainly of men, but in true Aaliyah style she holds her ground.

Keep an eye on this one. We know we will :)
