Whyalla STEELMAN next Saturday 4 April - 1.9k Swim, 90k Bike & 21.1k Run.

Course marked, bike support available, run course hydration fairies booked in and it's absolutely free. No $650 entry fee. No need to travel across the country to race. No pressure. No time limits (except for those you put on yourself) just the way it should be. Just the way the original long distance triathlons started.

Come along and crush the whole thing on your own or just one leg or find a couple of mates to help or race against. We will be starting in front of the Foreshore Fig Tree on beach road. Swimmers will be in the water at 7.00am. Cyclists leaving from around 7.45am and Runners from 10.45am (Depending on conditions etc).

Note the 7am start will be in shallow water so we'll need to wade out a little. The tide is coming in until 9am so it will only get deeper as the swim progresses. The ride course will be one loop 45k out along the Iron K**b road and back. The run course is to be determined but at this stage we might be taking a sneaky peak at the possible 2026 Whyalla Running Festival updated 2-lap course....which includes the Wetlands, Whyalla Foreshore and Jetty.

Weather looks good. Perhaps a little head breeze on the return leg of the bike but nice and cool for the run.

If you're interested and would like to register send me a message so we know to look out for you - Troy 0456 385 112

Massive congratulations to all who completed the 2026 Whyalla Triathlon yesterday. Thank you for everyone who travelled, dragged out their mates, or stepped out of their comfort zone to have a go. Highlights included perfect weather, happy puffed out kids, first timers, enticer vomit, family rivalries, police attendance and super close top three male and female sprint races.

We could not hold this event without support from our amazing volunteers and sponsors. Specifically we would like to acknowledge our sponsors Des's Cabs, Your Dental Care, Intersport Whyalla, Anytime Fitness, Mine Spec, Career Employment Group, Harcourts Phillis, Whyalla City Council, King Signs, U-Pedal Cycles, Westland Hotel, Coles and Old Woolies. Please get around these businesses as they understand the importance of events like this to keep our community active and adventurous. And next time you bump into any of the champion volunteers found at the Whyalla Surf Lifesaving Club, the Whyalla SES or King Signs give them a nice big high five from us. Safe swimming and cycling are critical for this event and we couldn't do it without them.

Overall we never get tired of seeing smiling participants both young and old explore their physical limits. And I bet some aspects of the day (good or bad) will be etched into memories for a lifetime. I bet some are even keen to go again....
