What an incredible day for our club as we proudly retain the Billy Magill Cup for the fourth consecutive year!

In a tough contest played in wet conditions, Steel United came away with a hard fought 2–1 victory over Whyalla Wanderers. The commitment, determination, and spirit shown by our players throughout the match was outstanding and a credit to the club.

Unfortunately, the Magill family were unable to attend today's presentation. In their absence, Life Member and Vice President Gerard Docherty Senior proudly presented the cup on their behalf.

We are proud to continue honouring Billy's legacy and grateful for the opportunity to celebrate his contribution to our club and community through this annual fixture.

Congratulations to everyone involved in another memorable Billy Magill Cup victory.

Today we honour the memory of William "Billy" Magill, a pivotal figure in the history of both Steel United and Whyalla Wanderers.

The annual Billy Magill Cup is played in recognition of his dedication to soccer and our community, with Magill Park proudly bearing his name as a lasting tribute to a man who contributed so much to the local game.

William "Billy" Magill was a significant part of both clubs history, and our home ground proudly bears his name. Each year, this game honours his lasting contribution to our clubs and soccer in Whyalla.

💙 Community Connections – June Recipient Announcement 💙

Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit nominations for this month’s Community Connections initiative.

I’m delighted to announce that Steel United Soccer Club has been selected as the June recipient.

Nominated by Sarah Fay. Steel United was recognised for its commitment to inclusion, connection and wellbeing through sport. Through its junior, youth and senior programs, the club provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate, build friendships and develop a strong sense of belonging.

Throughout June, I will be making a donation to Steel United Soccer Club for every appraisal completed, property listed and settlement achieved.

🕊️ REST IN PEACE DOUG 🕊️

Steel United Soccer Club sends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Doug Bradford following the sad news of his passing.

Doug played in A Grade for the club from the late 1960’s to the early 1970’s, earning Life Membership in 1975 and being awarded Clubman of the Year that same year for his outstanding contribution to the club.

Rest in peace Doug.
