ROUND ONE. THAT WAS FUN!

Season Four is officially up and running.

Wins to North Whyalla, South Whyalla, Central Augusta and South Augusta, who made a serious statement that they are here to play!

A pretty big moment too, with both Port Football Club and South Augusta playing their first WFLW game.

Ward, Pezos, Reid and Moon share the early goal kicking lead with three each, while plenty of familiar faces and new names made their way onto the best player lists.

West Whyalla joins the action next round.

Round 1 of the Whyalla Football League Women’s Comp saw South Augusta get a good win over the inexperienced but determined Port Football Club - Port Pirie at Port Oval tonight. 🎯

The MGA Insurance Group $50 Player of The Match award was handed to Seraphina Moon who was outstanding all night.

MENS GRAND FINALS DAY 🏆

WFL Women's would like to send a shoutout to all the players and support crew involved in today’s Whyalla Football League men’s Grand Finals.

So many of them show up for our women’s teams as coaches, runners, team managers, trainers, water carriers, delegates and supporters. Along with our umpires they support women’s footy, properly.

A special mention to West Whyalla Women’s coach, Northern Zone women’s combined assistant coach and West Whyalla league delegate Nick Tzantzoglou, who is playing in a grand final today.

Nick is always in our corner, works so hard for us and one of the fiercest advocates for women’s football. So we’ll be cheering pretty loudly for him today and if you see him, please give him and extra cheer for us!

Best of luck to everyone involved today. Hope it’s an absolute ripper day of footy for you all! ❤️

WFLW RETURNS FOR ITS BIGGEST SEASON YET

Season Four gets underway tonight, with footy in Whyalla and Port Augusta before Port Pirie joins the party on Monday.

🏉 North Whyalla v Roopena
6pm Friday | Memorial Oval, Whyalla

The reigning premiers have a new look lineup, mixing some familiar names with a new wave coming through.
Roopena has recruited strongly and looks seriously tough on paper. Plenty of talent, but a lot of them haven’t played together yet. Let’s see how quickly it all clicks into place for them.

🏉 South Whyalla v Weeroona Bay
7.30pm Friday | Memorial Oval, Whyalla

South brings a young, enthusiastic side that will be ready to get after it.
Weeroona Bay has put in plenty of work over the off season and will be keen to show exactly where that work has taken them.

🏉 Central Augusta v West Augusta
7pm Friday | ETSA Oval, Port Augusta

New coach. New look side. Some big recruiting. Central is coming into 2026 with a very different feel.
West Augusta, meanwhile, returns with a strong and settled group after making last year’s grand final. This should be a good one.

🏉 Port Football Club v South Augusta
6.30pm Monday | Port Oval, Port Pirie

A big night for both of our newest clubs. Port FC makes its WFLW debut in front of a home crowd, while South Augusta plays its first game as a brand new women’s team. History either way.

And West Whyalla get to sit back and see what everyone is about as they have the Round One bye.
