Own The Night - 5km run for women + girls
Wednesday 9th September 2026
Starting at 6:30pm

๐Ÿซด Join us as we take back the night, celebrate women's health, and remind ourselves that we're stronger when we move together!

๐Ÿ“ Location: Whyalla Foreshore โ€“ Whyalla Parkrun Track
๐Ÿ™†โ€โ™€๏ธ Who: Women + girls only. Children are welcome to participate but anyone under the age of 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult.

โค๏ธ It's about reclaiming our streets, challenging the idea that women should feel unsafe outdoors after dark, and empowering women to move with confidence. Together, we're creating a visible show of strength, support and solidarity - because every woman deserves to feel free to walk, jog or run whenever she chooses.

In Australia, only 11.4% of women feel safe to walk at night*. This Women's Health Week, we're inviting you to Own the Night. Join Whyalla Rec Centre for a community 5km walk / jog / run that stands for more than just fitness.

Whether you're walking your first 5km or you're a regular runner, your presence is part of something bigger.

24/08/2026

From 1โ€“21 September, we're getting behind AUSactive's Million Moves challenge, a national push to get more of us active. Right now, around 75% of Australians aren't moving enough to benefit their health. We want to help change that, one minute at a time.

Here's how it works: pledge to move for 15, 30 or 60 minutes a day for 21 days. Walk, swim, lift, stretch, dance, whatever gets you going. One minute of movement equals one move.

Movement is what we do every day, and this September we're inviting our community to pledge alongside us and help build the habit, together.

Sign up free at millionmoves.org.au and let's get moving.
