World breastfeeding week 🤱
The theme this year is “Step up for breastfeeding - educate and support”
How you choose to nourish your baby is only your choice to make and there are usually many factors involved. If you experience any guilt surrounding your choice, please let go of it. It doesn’t serve you as a mother or a woman.
Some women choose not to breastfeed, some physically cannot and for a lot of women, bad or limited advice leads to a shorter than anticipated breastfeeding journey.
One thing that I know personally, is that often the road to breastfeeding can be really hard. Overcoming a tongue tied baby and an oversupply to go on to feed for 14 months is still my greatest achievement.
If I had not had the support I had, my experience would have been different. I was fortunate enough to see two different lactation consultants, a speech pathologist and a paediatric surgeon in the first 5 weeks to get me to a point where James could feed. I also had the ABA on speed dial.
So today, I’m sharing some amazing accounts to follow for breastfeeding help. Not because I want to guilt you if you didn’t breastfeed but because I want each mother to have the opportunity to breastfeed for as long as she wants to if she wants it.
