EL GOTHICO CANCELLED.

We are so sorry folks. Due to Whitby Town's recent good run of form (and cup run), postponed matches mean that we are no longer able to use the pitch on 29-Oct (they have a home match on the following Tuesday and can't risk damage to the pitch).

Therefore, we've reluctantly had to cancel what was meant to be the last El Gothico of all. Whether we will reschedule we are not sure yet.

We intend on trying to arrange some other fundraising in the meantime, watch this space.

Obviously, as you can imagine, we are devastated at this turn of events, as it is not how we intended this working out.

Just to confirm: sadly there will be no football this April at Whitby for various reasons.

October /will/ happen - not least because it will be the final match involving the current captains of both sides (Adam Williams for the Goths and Jon Stokoe for Stokoemotiv Whitby FC). More details to follow, including charity information.

PSA: Donna Jez Valenzano's funeral will be in Reading on 06-March.

Donations rather than flowers are requested, and if you are able, or wish to donate, please see attached.

I should also add that the football is intended to happen in April, and we will be doing something to honour her memory there too.

Sadly as captain, I have to report the death of our own for a second time.

This time is the death of Donna Jez Valenzano, one of the key organisers of the Whitby Goth Football for so long, a member of the Sisters of Real, the trainer for Boy Division and all-round good egg.

We will all miss her terribly.

The picture below shows her in happier times when the Goths won. Photo courtesy of Paul Baxter.

PSA: No football this October

Unfortunately, due to a host of schedule clashes, other life priorities and illness across the usual organising team and beyond, there will be no football on the Sunday of Whitby this time around.

We had long targeted October 2022 as our "return", but it wasn't to be. Both teams are gutted at this, and we apologise for the late announcement.

Instead, we are now working on returning in April 2023, watch this space for more info.

Something I never thought I'd have to do as Real Gothic FC/FC 2019 Gothenheim captain - report the death of one of our own.

Anthony AJ Sikesy has passed away recently from a brain tumour. He joined the team a few years ago, and quickly fitted in, to the point that he was awarded Man of the Match at least once - and as I got slower and slower, he was a useful addition to the squad as a midfielder and winger!

Such sad, sudden news. /adam williams

Hello! We know that you haven't heard from us for a while...and we're sorry for that.
Sadly - the football will not be happening this Whitby. Most of our players are not going to be there so it will be impossible to get a team together.
We are hoping that we will be back in October.
Stay safe, sane and spooky.

And when we are back in April (fingers crossed), we will be able to help fund these Special Days for more people.

While we are not playing this October - it would be great if you could still support our charities...Click on the link and donate what you can.

Just Sam, 38, in a hot tub living her best life! 😍💅

Sam received treatment and surgery for cervical cancer and had a perfect Special Day staying in a Shepherd's Hut close to Scarborough, choc-full of amazing views. Her time away allowed her to relax, rest, and recoup!

"My Special Day was perfect from start to finish. We stayed in a little hut close to Scarborough but also in the middle of nowhere with amazing views and the tastiest tea rooms. A beautiful hidden retreat. We barely left the place and enjoyed each others company with very little technology and minimal spending. It was a reminder that life can be happy with very little. We appreciated every moment of it, so much so we talked about returning."

"My Special Day could not have come at a better time because I'm just recovering from my second major operation since my diagnosis. Whilst I was lucky enough to be given the all-clear after a radical hysterectomy (thank god I had my one boy), I did suffer further complications from the surgery. After several hospital stays and appointments, I have just a few weeks ago had another major operation to fix the problem long term. So the relaxing break on my Special Day has been amazing for the rest and recuperation."
