Wishing the Waverley Night 17 - 1 team all the best at this Sunday's Netball Victoria State Finals day for Association Championships.

They will compete at the State Netball Hockey Centre, aginist the winner and runner up from all the other Zone Championships.

Association Championships is an integral part of the Netball Victoria pathway for players, coaches and umpires.

We wish Fiona, Ron and the team all the best for Sunday!

❤️🤍 Vale Sandra Gunther ❤️🤍

It is with profound sadness that Northvale Netball Club shares the passing of one of our much-loved and cherished Northvale family members, Sandra Gunther.

Sandra was part of the Northvale community for more than 35 years, joining the club in 1990 when her daughter Kate began as a junior player. From that moment, Sandra became the heart and soul of our club, generously giving her time, energy and unwavering support to generations of players and families.

Throughout her years at Northvale, Sandra held many roles including Secretary, Vice President and, for the past 15 years, our dedicated Umpires Co-ordinator. She was also a passionate coach, leading open teams for more than 20 years and continuing to coach both Saturday and Monday night teams.

Sandra proudly represented Northvale on court, playing 187 games between 1997 and 2010 and continuing to play until the age of 60 – an achievement she and the club were incredibly proud of.

Her remarkable contribution was recognised with the President’s Award, the Helen Turnbull Trophy and Life Membership in 2011. In 2022, Northvale honoured her enduring legacy by introducing the Sandra Gunther Spirit Award, reflecting the passion, generosity and club spirit she displayed every single day.

More than any title or accolade, Sandra will be remembered for the person she was. She was Northvale’s biggest supporter – always ready with a smile, words of encouragement and a helping hand. She cared deeply for every player, every family and every member of our community.

Sandra’s dedication spanned generations and her impact on our club is immeasurable. Northvale is a better club because of her, and her legacy will continue to live on through all those whose lives she touched.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Sandra Gunther passed away on Sunday, 7th June.

Sandra has been a much-loved part of the Waverley Netball Centre community for many, many years. In recent times, she was a familiar face with Top Guns on Monday nights and Northvale on a Saturday afternoons.

Her greatest joy was seeing the smiles on the players’ and young umpires’ faces as they did what they loved. Sandra’s encouragement and support meant so much to so many.

We will dearly miss her friendly conversations and her ever-present smiling face.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Sandra’s family and friends during this difficult time. 💙

FUNERAL DETAILS:
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 16th at 2:00 pm at Churchill-Waverley Golf & Bowls Club (82 Bergins Road, Rowville).

A huge congratulations to Sue Gaudion on receiving King’s Birthday Honours for her "Significant service to netball as a coach, administrator and to the media!" 👏

Sue and the Gaudion family have been a valued part of the Waverley community for many years. From her early playing days growing up in Mt Waverley, to becoming a familiar voice on the Fox Netball commentary team and working with the AIS and West Coast Fever, Sue has made a lasting impact on our sport.

Sue has always entertained, one of the best interviewers in the game. Who remembers The Centurions Netball Show and Gordys Gasbags which kept our community entertained during COVID?

Sue continues to inspire and drive netball to new heights, and this recognition is so well deserved.

We are absolutely delighted to congratulate former Orioles Head Coach and West Coast Fever General Manager and current Specialist Coach Sue Gaudion on being awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

Sue has been awarded this incredible achievement for her significant service to netball as a coach, administrator and to the media.

Although she hails from Victoria, Sue has been a trailblazer in West Australian Netball and making West Coast Fever a Club of choice!

Waverley Netball Centre is running School Holiday clinics on Tuesday 7th July!

Session 1:
10:00am – 11:30am
Ages 6–11

Session 2:
12:00pm – 2:00pm
Ages 12–16

Both clinics will be held on the indoor courts at Waverley Netball Centre, and everyone is welcome — boys and girls.

Tickets are $30 per session.
