Fabulous day on the water. Sun was shining, the water was like glass and the fish were biting. From reports, there has been 4 fish caught with Tony Dixon possibly in the lead, followed by David Rybarczyk. There is still a chance to pull in a bigger fish tomorrow. Tonight our members rest and have a well deserved drink or two. The competition season is looking like a good one! Fun, friendship and fishing, what more could you need!

Beautiful day out at Lake Leake, the second leg of the competition is under way. 9 members are trying there luck. Great looking fish have been caught already. Tight lines!

Tuesday 1st of September. The second leg of the competition will be decided, come along and find out where we are heading next. Membership are due also.

Last Saturday the club held it's annual end of season dinner at The Westbury R.S.L. Our members enjoy a delicious meal provided for the from the Westbury Baptist Church and School Chaple.

We award Doug Poulton with a Life Membership. For his 22 years of service to the club. No one is more deserving.

After the meal we moved onto the senior awards. Thank you to all the businesses who donated an award.

First place was David Rybarczyk, he received a $200 voucher from Tamar Marine.

Second place was Tim Robinson, he received a $100 voucher to Bonney's Energy Westbury.

Third place was Theo Visser, All Goods Launceston donated a $50 voucher.

Hole in the Net was won by Harvey Bosworth.

Longest Fish was David Rybarczyk, his name will be added to the John Broomby Memorial shield.

Capital Pugwash was Theo Visser, with a story of him paddle his boat back across the Great Lake not once but twice.

Thank you to all the local businesses who also donated to our raffle. Bonney's Energy, Walters Contracting, Westbury Gourmet Butchery, Steve Gerard, Betty Bishops Lures, Westbury R.S.L, Bex Blades and Beards, TKA Sports and Outdoors Deloraine, Theo Visser and Kimberlee Lockett.

A huge thank you to Fellows IGA Westbury for the donation of the voucher for our Last Man Standing draw.

We had some rod and reels donated by Steve Gerard for a auction during the night. A massive thank you to Steve, for the fantastic gear.

Also a big thank you Jamie McAllister for Inland Fisheries. Your insight on all things lakes and fishing, was very interesting.

Unfortunately we didn't have a junior prize this year, as our juniors didn't have much luck. Fingers crossed our 2026/2027 is a bit more fruitful for them.

Thanks for you to all those who attended and to the Westbury R.S.L for having us.

Here's to a fun 2026/2027 season.

This Tuesday 4th August is general meeting time as usual westbury RSL 7.30pm. Come one and all see whats coming up for the club , enter in our monthly raffle and get your membership in ready for our first comp and member Barbie at four springs the following Saturday. Competition starts daylight with measure in and dinner 1.00pm. 👍🎣🎣As always fun friendship and fishing.

This always a good night. Fisheries will be in attendance to answer questions. Season awards will be presented and some good captain pugwash stories all true some slightly adjusted. Raffle drawn with good prizes and a last man standing prize.
