Mt Sugarloaf Croquet Club

Croquet Club A small volunteer croquet club promoting the enjoyment of playing croquet. We play socially and encourage members to play in local competitions.

Croquet is a sport that can be played by anyone aged 9 - 99 years. Some members have played in state, national & international events. We welcome new members and supply all necessary equipment to get you started.

Day 2 of Maitland Croquet Club Sweet Pea competition was held today. The rain mostly held off. Our teams played well with 5 wins each over the 2 days but unfortunately both divisions were taken out by Toronto players. Congratulations Brenda, Leah, Paul and Hans.

Blinds on the awning of our Clubhouse have been installed! These
blinds offer great protection from the sun, wind and rain greatly increasing the comfort of the area for our members and visitors. In the photo the blinds appear to be quite dark but games from easily be viewed through the blinds. We gratefully acknowledge the support of the former West Wallsend Tennis Club for their generous donation which has made this purchase possible.

We had a lovely day hosting the Red Hat Ladies for morning tea, some basic training and a game. It was a very overcast day but fortunately the rain held off until the end of the games for the day. Thanks to Brenda, Paul Y. and Glen who coached the ladies and to the players that day who provided morning tea.
The Red Hat Ladies really enjoyed their morning. We were also fortunate to have Richard and Margaret join us for the morning frivolities!

4 of our newer members (Jillian & Neil and Margaret & Anne) played in the Hunter Novice GC Challenge yesterday at the new Lake Macquarie Croquet Centre. Anne has only been playing for 4 weeks.
Although it was very windy & cold they all scored hoops in every game & enjoyed themselves.
Well done ladies & Neil.

Thank you to the NSW Government Office of Sport for the grant to renovate both our lawns. Our lawns were aerated, top dressed and laser levelled. They are both looking really great with our members enjoying playing on lawns that are level and smooth. This work will bring our lawns up to a very competitive level.
Again thank you NSW Government and Clayton Barr our local member.

Mt Sugarloaf Croquet Club is a sporting group that was formed about 15 years ago to encourage those people in the area of West Wallsend and surrounds (Western Newcastle area) to come together on a regular basis, to learn to play and enjoy playing the game of croquet along with the added benefit of social interaction.

We have been successful in receiving a grant of $1000 from "Bulk Gives Back" to purchase a fridge so members and visitors can store their food and drinks safely in the clubhouse.

Massive thank you, Bulk Nutrients, through the "Bulk Gives Back" grant program, for your wonderful support.

2024 GC Club Champion was decided today.
Well done Leah Kime winning 4 out of 5 games!!
Coming a close 2nd was Paul Starrenburg going down by 5 hoops.
The weekends' games were played in both lovely sunshine and wind & rain.
Thank you to Starry for having the lawn playing very true.

Exciting news for our club.
We have just aerated, top soiled & re-levelled both our lawns.
Down side is no play for next 4 weeks but super
excited to play again on great new lawns.

Mt Sugarloaf Croquet Club held its annual crazy Funday yesterday.
Lots of fun was had by all the visitors and our members.

Our annual fun day is on this Saturday.
For those that have registered thank you very much. We look forward to seeing you all for a crazy fun day.

If you have not been to our club before, check out these photos taken by our club member today after rolling our lawns. We have a large car park at entry so plenty of parking. Registerstion will be done at entry gates. We have some great raffles prizes & 100 club so don’t forget to bring money to be in the running to win.

Tomorrow, lawns will be marked, fun games marked out & awnings & tables set up ready for you all.

See you all on Saturday for 9am registration.
