Maribyrnong Swifts Football Club (MSFC) is a girls’ and women’s soccer club located in West Footscray, Victoria. The club’s home ground is Johnson Reserve on Essex Street, West Footscray. In 2017 the club has senior women’s teams in State 2 West, State 4 West and State 4 North.

At the Maribyrnong Swifts, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, valued and seen.

⚽️ As a female and gender-diverse football club, Pride Week is a chance to celebrate the diversity within our players, coaches, volunteers, families and wider community.

✅ In line with Child Safe Standard 5, we recognise that every child is different and has different needs. Creating safe, inclusive environments isn’t just a policy — it’s part of who we are.

🙌 That’s why we’re encouraging our community to think about the language we use. Simple shifts can make a big difference.

🙅🏽‍♀️ Moving away from gendered terms such as girls, gals and ladies and instead using inclusive language like players, team, folks and Swifts helps ensure everyone feels welcome and belongs.

This weekend Swifts will host our annual Pride Round. This round is near to our hearts as a club who actively welcome gender diverse and LGBTIQA+ players and families to our club. 

Sporting clubs are the heart and soul of a local community, but sadly, many LGBTIQA+ folk don’t feel welcome or safe in sport. At the Swifts we strive to create an inclusive space for all members of the Swifts community.

To celebrate Pride for our Swifts community we will be :  

🌈Rainbow training sessions this Wednesday and Thursday nights for all teams. Who can be the brightest team, share your pride with a team photo!

🌈 Senior player Pride round this Sunday, at home with our State 6 and 8 teams playing at 1pm and at 3pm - with MiniTillie player walk out.

🌈 MiniTillies and Junior teams playing at home this Sunday can have face painting & we will have rainbow ribbons for hair to give away.

🌈Canteen running during Minitillie, Junior and Senior games with rainbow themes

Opening up pathways and finding what lights a fire for our members is what gets us outta bed in the mornings…..and 8 of our Juniors got outta bed and joined for a referee course on Saturday!
Referees are such an important part of the game at every level and our 8 Juniors have begun their journey and adding another layer to their growth and leadership within the great game of football.

Behind every training session, every game day, every canteen shift, every line marked, every uniform washed, every player supported and every smile at our club… there is a volunteer making it happen. 💜⚽💜

The Swifts has strong junior representation and we could not be prouder but we also support two senior teams who provide pathways for our juniors.

Today our SL6 had a win which was a double celebration as their captain celebrated their birthday and lead the team to a win 3-0!
