Meet !! Exercise scientist, researcher at Griffith University, and one of the people in the room on 21 June.

Meg’s work sits at the intersection of strength, musculoskeletal health, and female physiology. She spends her time closing the gap between what the research literature says and what shows up in real life - particularly for women, who have been chronically under-represented in exercise research and are only now starting to be coached with evidence written for their bodies.

At Built to Last, Meg and Em are co-presenting the strength and bone pillar. We’re walking you through what the VALD numbers mean, what strength floors actually look like for women, and a programming framework you can take home and use for yourself, wherever you are at.

What if strength wasn’t something you guessed?

At Built to Last, we’re bringing VALD testing into the women’s health conversation to help make strength measurable.

Throughout the morning, we’ll be testing participants live and exploring what these numbers can tell us about how your body is functioning.

Things like:
• Grip strength - one of the strongest indicators of overall health and longevity
• Balance - your body’s ability to stay stable and resilient
• Force production - how much strength you’re actually creating
• Power - how quickly you can produce force when it matters most

These aren’t just performance metrics for athletes.

They’re markers that help us understand how well we’re ageing, how prepared our bodies are for the demands of daily life, and where we might benefit from targeted training.

Because the goal isn’t just to be fit today.

It’s to build a body that can carry you through the next 30, 40 and 50 years.

The numbers aren’t there to judge you.
They’re there to give you a starting point.

Meet Jess!! Physiotherapist, co-founder of .health.hq, and the person bringing pelvic health into the strength conversation where it belongs.

Pelvic health gets siloed. It often gets treated like a postpartum only conversation, a leak conversation, or a “speak to someone about it one day” conversation.

It’s none of those things on their own.
It’s a strength conversation. A load conversation. A training consistency conversation. And one of the biggest reasons women quietly back away from lifting or certain movements, usually without being told there was another option.

At Built For Life, Jess will walk us through:
- What actually makes up the ‘pelvic floor’ (the full network & why it’s so much more than “the bit you Kegel”)
- Why intra-abdominal pressure matters and why understanding it is the difference between strength training that works with your body and training that loads it in ways it can’t manage
- The brain-pelvis connection (the conversation your nervous system is having with your pelvic floor every time you breathe, brace, or lift, and why tuning into it changed everything about how you move

So if you’ve ever felt unsure about lifting, hesitant about certain movements, or like there’s a piece of the puzzle missing in how you train, this morning is for you. Jess’s section might just be the piece you have been missing.
