🔥💃 BEGINNER RUEDA DE CASINO — THURSDAY NIGHTS AT MOLLY’S! 🇨🇺

Want to try something fun, social and unmistakably Cuban? Join us upstairs at Molly Malone’s every Thursday night for our Beginner Rueda de Casino drop-in class.

Rueda de Casino is Cuban salsa danced in a circle, with partners changing throughout the dance as a caller leads the group through different moves. It’s energetic, social, a little chaotic in the best possible way — and an incredible way to meet people while learning Cuban Salsa.

TANGO WEEKEND STARTS TODAY! 💃🖤

It’s not too late to join us!

We are incredibly lucky to have Baz Arnold visiting us from Melbourne this weekend, sharing his knowledge, experience and beautiful understanding of Argentine Tango with our Townsville dance community.

Opportunities to learn from teachers of Baz’s calibre don’t come along every day — and you do not need to be an experienced Tango dancer to benefit. Today begins right at the heart of Tango: connection, the embrace, movement and learning how two people communicate without words.

3:15pm — Introduction to Milonga

Then we continue tomorrow with Vals, Colgadas and a guided Práctica.

Global Dance Collective is opening our Term Four courses to COMPLETE BEGINNERS — and absolutely no dance experience is needed!

Starting in early October, you can step onto the dance floor and learn from the very beginning:

💃 Cuban Salsa — vibrant, social and full of Cuban flavour. Learn the foundations, rhythm, partner work and movement that make Cuban Salsa so addictive.

🔥 Bachata — smooth, fun and incredibly social. A beautiful introduction to partner dancing with easy-to-follow foundations to get you moving with confidence.

✨ Urban Kiz — modern, connected and seriously cool. Learn the fundamentals of connection, musicality and movement in this contemporary partner dance style.

🌙 Egyptian Belly Dance — discover strength, musicality, beautiful movement and body awareness while learning the foundations of this incredible dance form.

You do NOT need:
• A dance partner
• Previous experience
• To be “coordinated” before you start
• To already know what you’re doing!

That’s exactly what beginner classes are for. ❤️

Our courses run for 10 weeks, giving you the time to actually learn, build confidence and become part of a welcoming dance community.

So incredibly proud of my Beginner Belly Dance students! 🖤

Some of these beautiful dancers have only been dancing for six weeks, and already we are diving into the world of the Mejance — learning how these traditional opening numbers are structured, how to listen for changes in the music, and how different rhythms shape the movement.

This week we’ve been exploring Malfuf and Saidi rhythms — learning not just what to dance, but beginning to understand what they are hearing and why they are moving to it.

For dancers so early in their journey, they are doing an amazing job. Watching their musical awareness, confidence and understanding grow each week makes me so proud.

Beautiful work, ladies. This is how dancers are made. ❤️
