NSW Labor MPs are growing anxious about their state seemingly being the sole participant in the national gun buyback scheme, with slow progress leading to fears it will collide with the state election in 2027. Regional seats held by Labor are set to come under One Nation assault during the campaign, with Labor figures worried the buyback will drive voters to the minor party.
“I’m deeply concerned of the impact this will have at the 2027 election,” one MP told The Australian.
