Works to upgrade Werribee South boat ramp have kicked off today, with the scale of works necessitating the ramp to be closed throughout the project.
The upgrade will see:
➡️ A new pontoon and accompanying ramp lane added taking the total number of lanes to 7
➡️ Replacement of the four central gangways and extension of the western pontoon
➡️ All-abilities access provided
➡️ New stormwater infrastructure installed and the extensive boat trailer parking area resealed to improve and maintain the parking area surface
➡️ Parking areas reconfigured to create more rigging and tie down spaces, while also improving traffic flow and congestion issues
Once upgraded, the launching and retrieval of boats will be easier, safer, and more efficient, making sure Werribee South will be an even better location for anglers chasing a delicious meal of snapper, black bream, flat-head, whiting and squid.
The Werribee South boat ramp will be closed during the upgrade, with works expected to be completed in late 2026.
Nearby boat ramps that can be used to access Port Phillip include Altona (29 minutes by car), Avalon Beach (33 minutes by car) and Newport (the Warmies) 34 minutes by car).
