Australian sailor Eric Marsh has made it home after successfully sailing solo around the world in a mini yacht.
At 72, he was the oldest person to finish the first Mini Globe Race – a 24,000 nautical mile journey on the smallest boats to ever race around the world.
I spoke to him on his return about surviving 50-knot squalls, 4-metre seas and the notorious bottom end of South Africa in a tiny 5.8m boat.
He credits wife Brenda, a retired nurse, for talking him through his toughest days at sea.
It was the adventure of a lifetime with spectacular scenery and a wonderful camaraderie among competitors.
