A big thanks to Jarryd and Trent from Stanley Cross Country for building an entire Grade 6 course for our Winter Grassroots Series. A first for both Werribee Pony Club and Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre 💪👌

Have a look at the photos and you'll see a lot of thought was put into making different looking fences despite it being hard to scale things down to this level sometimes.

It was wonderful to be able to include this level in our Grassroots Series and it was well received by Pony Club Victoria Members and Open Riders with an average of 25 riders attending each event for this Grade. We had heaps of positive feedback on offering an Open Gr 6 - plenty of adults who have never done a Horse Trials before or who hadn't competed in 10+ years. Grade 6 might only be 35cm but it's an introductory level to XC where for some, riding outside an arena is more daunting than the size of the jumps 🫣
Well done to those that came and crossed off XC for the first time 💪 We genuinely hope it's not the last😉💕

👀👀Spotted!! Beth McCann & Jarryd Stanley working hard or hardly working??🤔😂

The "God Father" of Equestrian Photography, Derek O'Leary rose to the Challenge this week and whilst on course snapped a couple shots of the "wildlife" 😍
Beth can be seen, well, doing what she does best....... Talking 🤣 Planning future fun things with Tracey from Off The Track 😉and proving it was in fact warm enough to take the jumper off. ☀☀
Meanwhile Mark Richardson Photography happened to get an allusive photo of the other, younger half of Stanley Cross Country, Trent Stanley, stoic as always👌😜 One day we'll capture him smiling on XC 🤔😂
Tazzie Eggins Photography snapped Jarryd once again OFF XC 🤫 clearly not impressed at having to rebuild a jump in SJ Ring1 or maybe regretting life choices that lead to being convinced by Beth that this would be a "fun" way to spend winter 🤣 Don't worry though he spent plenty of time on course including jump judging the entire Gr 4 class.
So rare that it wasn't captured, Aimee Cuthbert even made it outside the office to enjoy some Sunshine and also jump judged the entire Gr 4 class. 🤫☀
Yer, you're right.... hardly working 🤣🤣

🌟🌟 Event 3 Wrap Up 🌟🌟

Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre saw more than 230 riders roll in for the final round of our 2026 Winter Grassroots ODE Series hosted by Werribee Pony Club and wow was the weather magnificent for our last event! The sun shone and it even warmed up enough for T-shirts to make an appearance 🌞😎

It was another epic day for the crew with 9 rings of dressage, 2 rings of SJ and 225 riders out the XC Start box! 💪🫣 That’s the most number of riders we’ve had so far and to think some 2-day events don’t even have those numbers! 😴😁

XC saw some fresh ponies enjoying the glorious winter weather ☀ and a few runaways galloping back up the course jumping jumps on their way back to the start box, without riders!🐎 Stanley Cross Country turned things on its head this time with some surprising changes to the course for our last event and made for some great riding and surprising questions (last fence in the Gr 4 anyone? 😲🤷‍♀️) Unfortunately a delay in the Gr 3 saw us fall behind time but have no fear, Jarryd headed to the start box to get the “whip” cracking and a few super-fast course change overs (under 5 mins💪) saw us catch up to finish the day by 4:30pm. Well… on to pack up at least 😴🥴😂

Well beyond our expectations we had nearly 700 riders attend 3 events in the space of 4 weeks and, all at Werribee Park! How incredible is that?!🥳🤩 We had 81 riders who attended all 3 events and 94 who attend 2 out of 3, which meant The NRG Team Series Leaderboard and the Off The Track Series Leaderboard were hotly contested, and several levels were down to the wire to determine Overall Series Champions. 🥇🥇🏆 We’re thrilled to be able to provide Pony Club Victoria Horse Trials that are so well attended and enjoyed by members and Open riders alike. We can’t wait to do it all again next year. 😉👌 Keep your eye peeled for the release of our 2027 dates shortly! 😉

All of this wouldn’t have been possible without a small number of people who came on to assist us over all our events. Grateful doesn’t even come close to expressing our gratitude. 🥰💞💞
