We are into the singles competitions today - so far a very successful 1st game or progress in the second game. Only one loss so far which appeared to be a timed out game 😞

📍 Men’s Singles – Wednesday – 273 entries

Tony Lange, Section 13 at Barham Bowling Club - won his first game 21-12 and is now marking. Tony's second game starts at 2:30

Colin Young, Section 7 at Barham Bowling Club - won his first game 21-14 and is now marking. Colin's second game starts at 2:30

Ross Boag, Section 70 at Wahgunyah Bowling - marked the first game and is currently 15-7 up after 16 ends. Ross had a great first two ends and lots of singles since then.

Barry McArthur (Fitzroy Victoria - Webbcona), Section 76 at Leitchville Bowling - marked the first game and is currently 16-6 up after 14 ends. Going great

📍 Women’s Singles – Wednesday – 129 entries

Debbie Gorin, Section 42 at Kerang Golf Bowls Club - in what looks like a timed out match, went down a very tight 18 to 20, with Deb getting 7 shots to 2 in the last 4 ends. Debbie is currently playing her second game but it doesn't seem to be getting live scored. Updates when we can.

Jill Hopper, Section 35 also at Kerang Golf - won her first game 21-13 and is now marking. Jill's second game starts at 2:30

And that’s a wrap on the 2026 Victorian Novice Carnival 2026 for the Ballard’s and social member Sue Daly.

Tam and Darren had two great wins in the Open Pairs, finishing second in their section and missing the playoffs by just one shot.

Sue answered a late call up from Bowls Victoria and gave it great go against top opposition but seemed to always get second or third shot, not shot 😢.

In the Singles, Darren had two thrillers, losing 19–21 before winning 21–20 against John Williams, who has since reached the Round of 16.

Tammy qualified for the knockouts with strong sectional wins, then produced one of her best games of the carnival with a 21–7 win in the first final, regularly finding resting touches and building multiples. Unfortunately the next match slipped away 19–21 after a few missed opportunities after a change of green.

Good weather, good food, good friends and plenty of bowls, we just would have liked another round or two!

FYI G didn’t make this years trip, she is to busy winning at the Super 6’s and getting uni assignments done!
