Wow what a day! The weather dominated but still made way for some excellent golf. 29 players turned up at Maylands Peninsula Golf course for 18 holes of Ambrose. The forecast was not good with possible rain and storms for the morning. Everyone started in wet weather clothes and really appreciated them in the first few hours of play until patches of blue allowed for some excellent golf. Pars, birdies and even an eagle were scored after one team sunk a monster 20 foot putt. At times the wind was almost gale force but it didn't seem to bother Shannon Smoker who took home both novelty prizes for the longest drives. The two nearest the pin prizes were won by Justin Van Der Westhuizen and Tony 'dead eye dick' Lambert who had his name on both nearest the pin markers. Tony backed that up by leading his team consisting of Denver Heeger and Nicholas Cooke to win the main competition and hitting the lowest score for the day, 70, which was -1 for 18 holes. The other prize up for grabs was for the best story of the day and listening to all the stories was almost as enjoyable as the golf. Denver Heeger almost won it for his ability to obey Tony Lambert's tutelage and instructions of where to putt the ball. We found out from the story that the reason he was so obedient was only because he lived with his wife Corelle! The prize for the best story was given to Jaemie Manners for his sudden expulsion from the golf cart due to gravity when a sudden turn at the most unexpected time saw him rolling along the fairway further than some of his drives. Thank you Scott Turner for your expert driving and providing such laughs. If you missed out on playing today don't worry as we have another golf day planed later in the year. I'm sure it will be as enjoyable if not more than today was and hopefully we can encourage more friends and family to join us. Keep an eye on our page as all information will be shared on there. Don't forget that if you have any suitable photos or videos of today's golf please share them here. Till later in the year, the PCGA.

Hey everyone. Just an update on our golf day on Sunday. If everyone could please start to arrive from 7:30am it would be appreciated. Our first tee off time is at 7:59, with a group teeing off every 7 minutes. Arriving earlier would give you enough time to pay and ensure you know when your group is teeing off and where from.

At this stage we have 30 people playing so if you know of anyone else who might like to play then please let me know as we have enough room for 40 players.

Currently the groups are as follows.
Group 1
Adam Di Rosso
Isaac Harders
Martin Ormondi
Shannon Smoker
Group 2
Jessica Key
Nicholas Cooke
Seth Tucker
Ethan Fitzclarence
Group 3
Ervin Blaziacevic

David Scanlan
Group 4

Justin Van Der Westhuizen
Paul Goltz
Group 7
Denver Heeger
Mike Warchol
Tony Lambert
Group 8
Clifton Van Der Westhuizen

So you know there will be a number of prizes on offer on the day. Other than a prize for the winning team and for the best story from the day, there will also be 3 longest drive, 3 nearest the pin and one best second shot prize. So stay around after for presentations and a chat plus a free salad roll at the end.

Remember to bring an umbrella as we will play in the rain. Don't worry it will still be lots of fun.

C y'all there.

It should be a great day and before you ask, yes we will play even if it's raining. Umbrella's and Golf Carts were invented for that very reason. So start practicing and keep spreading the word.

It was a great day out yesterday at Wembley Golf Course. 28 guys and girls all braved the threatening conditions to play Ambrose in gusty winds and on a storm affected course.

The turn out was excellent considering the wild weather only 24 hours before. There were a few well seasoned regular golfers in Tony Lambert, Stephen Jones and Warren Gunter, quite a number of want-to-be pros but still just hackers in Clifton van der Westhuizen, Paul Goltz and Rob Stankovic and some very green, fresh faced, never played before, fish out of water, what's the point of this game newbies in Mark Vickery, Lisa Stankovic and Martin Ormondi. No mater what level of ability people were at, everyone had a great day and enjoyed each others company.

Story time at the end revealed a few, rather questionable incidences, during the day's play. Balls going backwards off the stick, sabotage of others equipment resulting in Jaemie Manners' driving over his own golf bag in the golf cart and a somewhat unique way of anger management being adopted by Clifton V, were all just part of the day's play.

However some very good golf was played with the top teams all scoring bellow par for the 18 holes. The top 3 teams were;

1st, -4
Paul Goltz
Seth Tucker
Darren Bond
Ethan Fitzclarence

2nd, -3
Ghylian Seret
Justin van der Westhuizen
Shannon Smoker
Bradley Gunter

3rd, -1
Martin Ormondi
Michael Grover
Robin van der Westhuizen
Tony Lambert

Hope everyone had a great day. Look out for information about our next event some time during spring.
