2023 Safari rally dusted & dusted. Pun well and truly intended, a very challenging rally dealing with the dust for all competing.
Very grateful for another trouble free event, just spanner checks & tyre rotations in service kept the crew happy.
We came into this event with a goal to just to finish no matter where we sat, with the safari renowned for being the ‘car breaker’ event on the calendar.
We kept it smooth & relatively conservative for the first 4 stages. Going into the night stages with SS5 we continued to keep it that way even though we were handed the wildlife card from Jarrod & Adrian copping a wallaby. We then had to keep a close eye on temps we stayed on track and kept it clean, thankfully very minor damage.
SS6 we were sitting in a really good place, just in reach of gaining another position. With that in sight we made the decision to have a crack. With a nerve-racking push in the dust, Ben did not miss a beat on the notes. The pressure paid off & we were rewarded with 5th on the power stage and finished 6th outright & first Rookie Driver & Co-Driver.
We are super proud of our efforts, once again really thank Ben for his consistency on the notes all while being sick.
Thanks to Bek & my family who come out & support me every rally without fail, means a lot.
Special mention for Steve, not only sponsoring the event but helping me out in the lead up with a new windscreen & giving me the opportunity to put my car on display to promote the event. Your efforts and commitment to this rally have definitely not gone unnoticed.
Thanks to my sponsors, your contributions continue to be greatly appreciated
