⭐️ 150 GAME MILESTONE ⭐️

Congratulations to Yvette “Maz” Maslen who will play her 150th game for Walkerville tomorrow!! Maz joined WNC in 2015 and has been a valuable member of the club ever since. Her dedication, leadership, and commitment to the club have been outstanding, and her list of achievements speaks for itself.

Her many achievements include:
2016 - C3 Best & Fairest
2017 - C4 Best & Fairest
2018 - CAT OF THE YEAR, C2 PREMIERSHIP and WNC Umpiring Coordinator
2019 - C1 Runner Up B&F
2024 - SAUCNA C1 Runner Up B&F
2025 - SAUCNA C3 Runner Up B&F

Beyond her playing career, Maz has also been a dedicated umpiring coordinator over many seasons, mentoring developing umpires and helping create a supportive and inclusive club environment. She has really developed the umpiring program in to a well functioning, cohesive and inclusive community at Walkerville.

Current coach Lexie Schwerdt shares:
“Mazzie is one of the most giving people you will ever meet. She gives her absolute all on the court, to umpiring, and to her teammates and friends.

Starting as a midcourter, she taught herself to become a shooter during the great Walkerville shooter drought of 2017—something that speaks volumes about her determination and team-first attitude. She has worked incredibly hard to develop strong movement around the circle and become a reliable, accurate goaler.

You tell Maz where you want her and what you need her to do, and she will try her guts out to get it done. You couldn’t ask for a more dedicated player—she puts her body on the line every game. I feel so lucky to coach her again this year, and even luckier to call her my best friend.”

From Bek Laslett:
Happy 100 games Mazzi! 💙
Thank you for being an absolute pillar of our club. You’re always the bubbliest, brightest personality no matter the weather, and always willing to lend a hand wherever it’s needed. Your positivity, energy and kindness never go unnoticed, especially when you turn up in your work uniform 😉
I honestly don’t know where we’d be each week without all the hard work you put into coordinating umpires and making sure we can all take the court. The time and effort you give behind the scenes is incredible and so appreciated by everyone at the club. Thank you for everything you bring to our club both on and off the court. Such an amazing milestone for such an amazing person!

Congratulations Maz on this amazing achievement we are so proud of you! Go cheer Maz on as she steps onto the court for the 150th time tomorrow against Adelaide Luth Rose L on Court 11 at 1:30pm 😼💙

Our connection to country ❤️💛🖤

Inspired by our country to city roots, we are proud to wear this dress by Linikka Richards, a proud Barngarla woman and mother.

The design reflects connection, strength and community, values we’re proud to carry on court

Tonight we celebrate First Nations Round and Reconciliation Week, recognising the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We acknowledge the Kaurna People of the beautiful lands on which we play and train, and honour their enduring knowledge and connection to Country.
