Who can join?
👧🧒 Children aged 5–11 years (in 2026).

✅ Hockey sticks and shin guards provided
✅ No experience necessary
✅ FREE to attend

A mouthguard is optional, as there will be no tackling activities during the session.

Good afternoon Valley Hockey Club member,

It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of Steve Gollschewski, on Friday September 4th 2026.

Steve was a long time member of Valley Hockey Club as a player and coach, joining in 1983 and playing across division's 4 to 7. During Steve's time in grass division 7, the team played in 10 straight grand finals and won 8 premierships.
After BHL created Classic Hockey League, Steve continued to play with his teammates in this league, and Steve kept on playing until he became Police Commissioner in 2024, and then his cancer battle started 18 months ago.

Steve also committed his time coaching juniors, and during this he took the J1 boys to a premiership. Steve also umpired whenever required, played indoor hockey for many years and was always dedicated to the Valleys cause.
He gained the nickname Gorby during his grass playing days, and that nickname persists to this day.

Steve will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the greater hockey community.

The funeral will be held at 10am on Monday, 14th September at Brisbane City Hall.
Seating is to be completed by 9:15am.

Congratulations to the Division 1 Masters Men who have claimed the premiership in a 2-1 win over UQ!
Father and son, Cameron and Thomas Dunning, both won their grand finals and were named players of the Grand Final. What a pair!

Valley Hockey Club is now accepting Expressions of Interest for coaching roles in 2027!

We have a number of exciting opportunities available across our senior and junior boys and girls teams. Whether you’re an experienced coach or just starting out, we’d love to hear from you.

All coaches will be supported by the club. Valley Hockey will cover the cost of any Hockey Australia coaching accreditation courses.

If you’re passionate about developing players and being part of our Royal family, this is your chance to make an impact!

It is almost time… the Valley junior presentation day is THIS SUNDAY 13 September from 2.30pm at Shaw Park 🏆

We are looking forward to celebrating all of our junior players and the fantastic season they’ve had. There will be plenty of awards, smiles, laughs and of course, FOOD! Every player who attends the presentation day will receive a sausage sizzle and a popper. The canteen will be open for our main food items and will also be selling drinks, chips and lollies.

Our menu for Presentation Day will be:

Pulled pork rolls - $8
Hamburgers - $6
Sausage Sizzle - $3
Hot chips - $4

To help us with catering and keep things running smoothly on the day, we are asking families to pre-order and pay for their food before Sunday. There is also an item in the order form to select how many players will be attending with you, so we can properly cater for them as well.
