⚾️ WEEKEND PREVIEW – DERBY DAY, MILESTONES & SPOTIFY/K NIGHT 🦉

A huge weekend of Deakin Baseball ahead, with juniors, seniors and women all in action across Saturday and Sunday!

Saturday is a big one at Deakin Uni with an all-Deakin Derby Day at home.

Firstly the U14s kick things off at Deakin Uni from 8:45am, then Div 4 Gold and Div 4 Blue are at 12:00pm, followed by Div 3 Gold and Div 3 Blue at 2:25pm. Always a great day when Deakin takes on Deakin, so get down to the clubrooms and enjoy a massive afternoon of baseball.

We also have a few club milestones this weekend, with Club President Trent Bayon playing his 150th game, while Darcy Stack and Dan Scargill both play their 50th games for Deakin. Congrats to all three on fantastic milestones.

Saturday night is also our first club event of the year with Spotify/K Night at the clubrooms! Dress up as something starting with K and stick around after the games for what should be a cracking night.

Our juniors are in action Saturday morning, and the Women’s team heads to Werribee on Sunday for Round 6.

Plenty happening across the club this weekend, so get around the teams, support the milestones and hang around for K Night! 🦉⚾️

⚾ State Winter Champs Weekend ⚾

Good luck to our Deakin Baseball Club representatives pulling on the Geelong Baseball Association colours this weekend!

The Women’s State Winter carnival is being played right here in Geelong at the Geelong Baseball Centre, with Deakin proudly represented by:

The Senior Winter Carnival is being played in Cheltenham, with Deakin 1s player Liam Whiteside representing the GBA Senior team.

⚾️ RD 8 SENIORS, RD 5 WOMEN’S & JUNIOR RESULTS 🦉

Another huge weekend for the club with some massive wins across the seniors, women’s and junior programs!

🟡 Div 2 continued their outstanding season with a dominant 15-1 win over Werribee, keeping themselves right in the hunt near the top of the ladder.

🔵 Div 3 Blue picked up a strong 10-7 win over Colac in a really solid all-round team performance.

🔵 Div 4 Blue also got the job done on the road, securing a great 12-8 win over Saints Black.

🟡 Div 1 and Div 3 Gold both battled hard against quality opposition but couldn’t quite get the result this week, while Div 4 Gold enjoyed the bye.

🔥 The Women’s side delivered one of the performances of the season, taking down last year’s premiers Saints 8–2! A huge win and another massive step forward for the program.

💪 The juniors also had a fantastic weekend:
• U17s picked up a strong 9-7 win over Saints
• U14s continued their impressive season with an 11-9 win to remain on top of the ladder
• U12s fought hard against Bellarine in a competitive game

The growth and energy across every level of the club right now is awesome to see. 🦉⚾️

📢There will be no Deakin Baseball this coming weekend due to the long weekend.

⚾️ BIG WEEKEND OF BASEBALL AHEAD 🦉

Another massive weekend coming up for Deakin Baseball Club with seniors, juniors and women all in action across the whole weekend!

🔥 A huge shoutout this week goes to Dean Edwards-Lear, who will play his 150th game for Deakin Baseball Club on Sunday for Div 3 Blue.

Since joining the club in 2016, Dean has been a massive part of Deakin both on and off the field. He has played in multiple grand finals, winning the 2022 Div 3 premiership, coaching over the past three seasons, serving on the committee for five years and currently helping lead the club as Vice President.

A fantastic club person and a well-deserved milestone. Congrats Deano! 👏🦉

🏟️ IMPORTANT DEAKIN UNI ACCESS INFO – SATURDAY

Please note there is a VFLW game at Deakin Uni on Saturday, meaning:
• The carpark near the clubrooms/football oval will be closed
• The laneway beside the baseball field remains closed until July

There is still parking available further along Nicol Drive.

If needed, you can briefly use the bus lane on Nicol Drive to drop gear close to the field, but please do not park there or on the grass as fines will apply.

We know it’s frustrating, but baseball is still on and we appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience.

🎉🇦🇺A huge congratulations to two of our Deakin boys, Cale Morris and George Steer for being selected to represent Australia in the U15 World Cup in Mexico this year!🇦🇺🎉

The boys will be attending a 5-day training camp in the US before heading to Mérida in Mexico to compete from September 25th to October 4th, where they'll compete against some strong countries including the USA, Japan, China and host country Mexico among others.

Cale and George continue to show a lot of hard work, dedication and talent and we are all proud of them! We look forward to seeing you both represent not just Deakin Baseball Club, but Australia! Well done and congratulations again on your amazing achievements!

⚾️ BIG WEEKEND AHEAD - U12s & WOMENS🦉

A huge weekend of baseball coming up across the club, with seniors, juniors and women all in action!

🧢U12s at HOME
Saturday is a big one, with our U12s playing their first game at Deakin Uni from 9:00am. It would be great to see plenty of support around the kids as they run out at home.

Our senior sides are also spread across the day, with Div 1 and Div 2 both at home against Guild, while the rest of our teams hit the road.

🌸MOTHERS DAY
Then on Sunday, we have a really special moment for the club with our first standalone Deakin Women’s team taking the field at 1:00pm on Mother’s Day. There will also be another women’s game beforehand at 11:00am, so come down, grab something from the canteen and support women’s baseball at Deakin.

Any help across both days would be massively appreciated, whether it’s canteen, scoring, setup, pack up or just lending a hand where needed.

Let’s get around a massive weekend for the club! 🦉⚾️

⚾️ ROUND 4 RECAP – BIG WINS, CLOSE LOSSES & A 200 GAME MILESTONE 🦉

Another packed weekend across the club with senior, junior and women’s teams all scheduled for action!

🔵 Div 1 went right down to the wire in Ballarat, falling just short 10–9 in a thriller.

🔵 Div 2 continued their strong start to the year with a great 10–3 win on the road, keeping themselves right near the top of the ladder.

🟡 Div 3 Gold couldn’t quite get rolling against Werribee, but the day still belonged to Ayden “Hammy” Ham, who celebrated his 200th game for Deakin Baseball Club! A massive achievement and one that reflects years of commitment to the club both on and off the field. Congratulations Hammy! 👏🦉

🔵 Div 3 Blue held their nerve in a tight one to secure a 6–5 win over Saints.

🟡 Div 4 Gold picked up a strong 10–8 win over Bellarine in another close contest.

🔵 Div 4 Blue battled hard against Corio but came up against a strong side.

🌧️ Our Women’s side were unfortunately washed out, with the round now moved to the end of the season.

🔥 It was also the opening round of junior baseball for 2025!

💪 U12s and U14s both started their seasons with impressive wins, while the U17s fought hard against a very strong Werribee side in a great contest.

A huge weekend for the club with all programs officially underway! 🦉⚾️

⚾️ ROUND 3 SENIOR RESULTS 🦉

Another big weekend of senior baseball with plenty of positives across the board!

🔵 Div 1 showed serious fight, coming from behind to earn a 10–10 draw with Lara in the final innings. Another big moment for the club with Jacob Young making his Div 1 debut and collecting two hits off the bench, while Cale Morris and George Steer both took the mound in the 1s for the first time.

🔵 Div 2 had a tough day and couldn’t quite get things rolling, going down to Lara.

🟡 Div 3 Gold put together a powerful performance in a 14–7 win, launching three home runs in a big offensive display.

🔵 Div 3 Blue broke through for their first win of the season, grinding out a strong 6–4 result on the road.

🟡🔵 Div 4 Gold & Blue both battled hard in tight contests but fell just short, with plenty to take away from competitive performances.

A weekend full of effort, development and some big moments! 💪

⚾️ ROUND 3 – ANZAC WEEKEND ACTION 🦉

We’re back on the diamond this weekend with a big slate of games across all Geelong Baseball Association senior divisions, including another 3 games at home!

🗓 SATURDAY 25TH APRIL (ANZAC DAY)

🔵 At Deakin Uni
• Div 1 & Div 2 will take on the Lara Wildcats Baseball, as the day kicks off from 12:00pm.

🟡 On the road
• Div 3 Gold travel to Corio Tigers Baseball Club for a 12pm game time start.
• And Div 3 Blue are away against the Bellarine Bears Baseball Club with a 2:25 start.

🗓 SUNDAY 26TH APRIL

• Div 4 Blue are at home vs East Belmont Saints Baseball Club from 1:00pm.
• Div 4 Gold head down the highway to take on the Werribee Giants Baseball Club, game starts at 12:00pm.

A great mix of home and away games to round out the weekend.
