I love this post by .henselmans where he illustrates how your body’s circadian rhythm influences your energy levels and how everyone’s rhythm might be different

I listened to a podcast by where one of his guest (I think she was a neuroscientist) explained that we are more alert in the morning so problem solving and strategic work is usually done at a more optimal level

As our body warms up during the day strength training is probably best done in the afternoon
🙋🏻‍♀️
However not everyone has the luxury of training in the afternoon and so what suits you in terms of time of movement is very individual.

Takeaways, their is an optimal time of day to train but if you can’t that’s ok just make sure you make time to move

It's been a while.... BUT I just recorded a podcast with my Mummy in Arabic

This an episode in Arabic with my Mum Yasmin.

My Mum has been my inspiration for a very long time especially as I get older and understand the journey and the struggles she has gone through to be here so strong.

Coming to a foreign country with my Dad and five kids and beginning an amazing life, her positive attitude and light hearted outlook on life is refreshing and I hope I get a sprinkle of her strength.

All my Arabic people excuse my pronunciations but I hope you enjoy this episode.

Squats~~

Everyone wants to do them with the most heaviest weights ever

Some people have better form and some are just genetically gifted

However---

You CAN improve your squat pattern and you don't even need to add a single weight to do so.

Here are three ways YOU can improve your squat patter;

1. Use a chair a a guide
2. Feet - what are they doing keep them flat on the floor and feel the floor
3. Ankle mobility matters check out the mobility drill you can do in the video below.

This an oldie but a goodie ESPECIALLY since we are hours away from unlocking the lockdown.

So much information out there about fat-loss, weight-loss and diets it can be overwhelming.

The basic premise of this episode is to help filter out some misinformation and and to reiterate the fact that you need to take your time and pick the exercise that works well for you long term.

Do you like ice cream?

Do you love gelato?

Well I've done some tasty research and discovered the hack of being able to eat gelato daily and still lose weight

My top tips:

✔ Calories matter it's a good idea to know your portions
✔ Add more plant based fibre
✔ Have a realistic approach to dieting and not something which stops you from socialising and being happy

Why aren’t more older adults focusing on strength training?

Fear?

Education?

Confidence?

Probably all three & more.

The benefits of strength training ESPECIALLY as we age are monumental

So monumental that it could positively affect the long term financial burden on Australia’s economy, health care and age care.

How do I know?

One search of Google shows our aging population & how sendendaty we have become.

My top tips on strength training:

1. Use a chair and squat
2. Learn how to pick things off the floor (hip hinge aka deadlift pattern
3. Apply progressive load

It’s never too late BUT it is ESSENTIAL
