Great weekend at the Lucky 7 at Adelaide Dirt Kart Club.

Shannon Barry – 1st
Asher Barry – 2nd
Alan Reynolds – 2nd

Strong pace all weekend from Lyndon Calvert, Erin Forrestal and Brody Staker — just didn’t get the racing luck.

Don’t forget to get your nomination in for Blanchetown Dirt Kart Club this weekend 👍

Looks like I might finally jump in for a run…
Shannon got kids Footy so won’t be there, so I’ve decided to steal his kart for the weekend. 😅

Love this.

History of karting all in one — different eras, different speeds, same feeling.

Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr. back in karts at Todd Road Karting Circuit

Pretty cool seeing two F1 drivers still loving where it all started for them.

Some interesting surprises in kart speed too over the decades

Proposal Submission – Future Direction of Dirt Karting of Australia (DKA)

With ongoing pressure from rising fuel costs, we believe it’s time to open discussion around the long-term future of dirt karting in Australia.

Omega Race Karts will be putting forward a proposal to Dirt Kart of Australia to explore alternative classes aimed at reducing costs and improving accessibility.

The proposal will focus on:

Introduction of an Electric Kart Development Class

– Reduced running costs
– Instant torque delivery
– Significantly reduced noise (ideal for early morning starts)
– Proposed small increase of 5% across all competitor licence/ nomination fees to support on-site diesel generators used for rapid charging between races. Initial projections indicate approximately 10 generators will be required per meeting

Introduction of a 4-Stroke Cost-Control Class

– Lower maintenance
– Simplified setup
– We understand purists are not a fan of the sound of 4-strokes, so an optional muffler whistle kit has been tested and will be available to enhance engine excitement and driver engagement.

Consideration of controlled components and parity measures

– Reduced cost of competition
– Ensuring greater consistency across the field

Exploration of noise reduction strategies

– Supporting long-term viability of tracks
– Allowing clearer communication between drivers and pit crews

We believe these discussions are necessary to ensure the continued growth of the sport.

Several key industry figures have already expressed support for these directions, and initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Omega Race Karts – Strong weekend across two tracks

We had four karts racing at Angas Go-Kart Club this weekend and the results speak for themselves.

Angus Dirt Kart Club:
• Shannon Barry – 125 Lights – 1st
• Asha Barry – Junior Lights – 1st
• Erin Forrestal – KT Lights – 1st
• Lyndon Calvert - 125 Heavy 2nd

All four drivers started on the front row for final, and across the day picked up multiple fastest laps. A strong sign of the speed we’re building into these karts.

Lyndon was unlucky not to make it a clean sweep but showed great pace and it's only a matter of time before we see him on the top step.

Tatiara Karting Club – JKC Junior Kart Championship (Final Round):
• Brody Staker - KT
• Jett Herring - Junior Heavy

Great weekend for the Brody and Jett. Their improvement over the series has been massive. Both drivers are heading in the right direction and building properly.

Great shots from Foster Photography of Brody Staker Racing new Omega kart.

This kart is about as good as it gets. Built with a carbon seat, full-length floor tray, Sniper front end and a range of performance parts, a lot of time and care has gone into this build.

Really proud of how this kart has come together and we’re looking forward to seeing Brody out on track in the #22 for the 2026 season.

A big thanks to Chloe Balmer and Drew Foster from Foster Photography for dropping by the workshop and grabbing these shots before the kart hits the track.

Omega Karts at the Grand Annual Dirt Kart Masters

We’ve been a bit quiet on socials lately with the workshop flat out getting customers’ karts finished ahead of the Grand Annual Dirt Kart Masters, hosted by Tatiara Karting Club.

It was great to see 7 new Omega karts on track across multiple classes over the weekend.

The weekend also marked the first appearance of the Omega PK40, named to recognise Paul Walsh and Kym Pearce, the previous owner of Omega, along with the company’s 40-year anniversary.

Drivers running Omega karts included:

• Shannon Barry – 125 Light
• Brody Staker – KT Light
• Erin Forrestal – KT Light
• Rylan Barry – KT Light
• Alan Reynolds – Statesman
• Lyndon Calvert – 125 Heavies
• Asher Barry – Junior Light
• Jett Herring – Junior Heavy

A big thank you to the people who have helped along the way — Shannon Barry, who is always willing to lend a hand no matter how busy he is, along with Kym Pearce Kenny and Colin Moat, who have all been a massive help getting things moving.

Great to see the Omega fleet growing and plenty of interest around the pits across the weekend.

Just the beginning.

Spent the weekend down at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park for the Kartsport SA meeting, this time I left the Kart at the shop.

Instead, it was all about helping the Omega crew trackside — and honestly there’s something pretty cool watching drivers grow in confidence and speed across a race day.

Maddie Britton — Cadet 12 just keeps stepping up. Transitioning from dirt to bitumen karting is no easy task, but session by session she found more pace. By the end of the day she was throwing down seriously quick laps and properly mixing it up in the racing. Massive improvement and great to see the confidence building.

Riley Hendry (Cadet 9) and Kaiden Hendry (Junior Lights) rolled out for their very first race meeting in their new karts — only their second time on track after a Port Gawler shakedown.

You could see the progress every session.

Riley even picked up his first race win. Yes… only two starters 😄 — but racing doesn’t hand anything out for free. You still have to beat the other driver, and he did exactly that.

Sam Stephens continued his strong form in 4SS Lights, taking the class win again. He’s building momentum nicely and when the 125 hits the track at the next meeting… I reckon a few people might start paying attention. One to watch.

Now the switch gets flipped.

Dirt Kart season is calling.

Practice this Saturday at Adelaide Dirt Kart Club prepping for most consider the season opener — The Masters at Tatiara Karting Club Can't wait.

Plenty happening in the workshop at the moment as well… keep an eye on the page this week.

Good ol’ Cooper Marks getting some well-deserved coverage up in QLD racing his Omega Speedway kart — love seeing the next generation coming through with big smiles and big personality.

Huge thanks to Jocelyn Dirt Culture for the work they’re doing promoting dirt racing up and down the east coast. Grassroots coverage like this is what keeps our sport growing.

Jump over, give both a like, follow along, and support Cooper’s journey on the dirt. Ol' Man Racing Qld Kart Spares

This post reflects a sentiment from, a majority of members I speak to over the proposed rule change to the 200 class.

More the merrier as far as i'm concerned, so I'm a fan to keep it the way it is. What are your thoughts?

We’re sharing it to encourage discussion around participation and class structure — not to create division. Different views are welcome; personal attacks on any individuals or organisation will not be tolerated.

Cheers
