Funakoshi karate style was developed in 1966 by Edwin Ward and is based on traditional Shotokan Karate which was formally established in 1936 by Gichin Funakoshi who is also known as the father of modern day karate.
Karate roots can be traced back to the Ryukyu Kingdom in Okinawa between the 14th and 19th centuries.
