Mental health is not simply the absence of symptoms like anxiety or depression. It is better understood as a person’s overall capacity to live with a sense of meaning, connection and self understanding.

From this perspective, therapy is not just about feeling better, but about becoming more aware of yourself and others, and more able to engage with life in a fuller way.

Meet Hannah, our newest member to the team!

Hannah is a psychotherapist who utilises an integrative, relational approach to accompany others in their psychological exploration and meaning-making process. She believes deeply in the healing power of relationship and the innate transformational potential of the human
mind.

Hannah approaches each individual with gentle curiosity and genuine respect. She aims to cultivate a calm, reflective space that honours diverse experiences without judgement. Hannah provides in-person and online support for individuals navigating life transitions,
identity and relationship concerns, and the multifaceted impacts of trauma.

Her interest in social justice and advocacy, philosophy, spirituality, and literature continually inspire her clinical practice and research.

Trauma affects the body as deeply as the mind, which is why psychotherapy is increasingly embracing body-based approaches. Drawing on research and ideas from The Body Keeps the Score, this post explores how trauma is stored in implicit bodily memory, not just conscious thought.

Because traumatic memories are not fully processed or integrated, feelings such as fear, terror, and numbness can remain “stuck” in the body long after the danger has passed, leaving people feeling unsafe even when they logically know they are safe. The article explores why traditional “top-down” talk therapy is often not enough on its own, and how bottom-up, body-based approaches help people work directly with the nervous system and implicit bodily memory to safely process and integrate trauma.
