In a thrilling showcase of martial arts prowess, Funakoshi Karate International Squad delivered a standout performance at the National All Styles Championship in Doncaster on Sunday.

Jillian Cole emerged as the star of the day, achieving a club first and personal best with a remarkable victory in the mixed male and female veteran’s Kata category. This new format, combining both genders in competition, saw Cole clinch the top spot against a formidable field of competitors, showcasing her unparalleled skill and dedication.

Here are the notable achievements from the tournament:

Veterans 51 years & over M/F Kata: 1st place
Female black belt open Kata: 2nd place
Female black belt open points sparring: 2nd place
Female advanced 5th Kyu to Black belt continuous sparring: 1st place
Veterans’ female 40-50 years points sparring: 2nd place
Veterans’ female over 40 years continuous sparring: 1st place
Mark Cole

Male Advanced Kata 5th kyu to 1st kyu: 3rd place
Veterans 51 years & over male points sparring: 3rd place
In addition to the Cole family's outstanding achievements, Sophie Cole was recognized with the National All Styles VIC Encouragement Award, highlighting her promise and dedication to the sport.
