Koorie Academy is excited to announce the launch of its “DEADLY MOB DON’T V**E “ anti va**ng campaign.

The campaign delivers a clear, positive message to the Koorie community: staying v**e free is a strong choice for individuals, families and community. Through powerful visual messaging, sport and culture, Koorie Academy will encourage young people to look after themselves, support their mates and make choices that keep community strong.

The “DEADLY MOB DON’T V**E “ campaign is built around pride, connection and leadership. It uses the energy of basketball and the strength of Aboriginal flag colours to create a message that is direct, memorable and relevant to young people.

“This campaign is about backing our mob to make strong choices. We want our young people to know that being deadly means looking after yourself, your family and your community.”

SEYMOUR — registrations are open for a free Koorie Academy Basketball Skills Clinic.

Bring the kids along for a day of basketball, learning and fun with Koorie Academy. Lunch and snacks are provided.

Tiddas Clinic, Traralgon

TIDDAS CLINIC — Traralgon, this one is for the girls.

Girls are invited to join a free basketball clinic and cultural workshop these school holidays, then share lunch together as part of Melbourne United’s United for Her program alongside Koorie Academy and the Gippsland Wrens.

Every participant will receive a T-shirt, basketball and drink bottle. Participants aged 9 and over will also receive a sports bra.

HOOPS & HEALING — a free family day of movement, culture, healing and community.

Come together with and for a day with something for everyone:

• Men’s healing — a culturally safe space to connect, yarn and reflect with Uncle Steve Parker
• Women’s healing — a culturally grounded wellbeing and healing session with Wayapa Wuurrk
• Children’s basketball — teamwork, skills and fun with Koorie Academy
• Learning culture — cultural learning and connection for children and families with Ricky Baldwin

Youth Gathering Day, Richmond

RICHMOND — come together for a deadly Youth Gathering Day.

Young mob are invited to hit the court with Koorie Academy for 1-on-1 basketball, fun, community and the chance to score some great prizes and giveaways. A BBQ lunch will be provided.

At Koorie Academy Basketball, every clinic is about more than developing skills on the court. It is a welcoming space where young mob can come together, feel proud of who they are, build confidence and create lasting connections with culture, community and each other.

Through basketball, shared stories and cultural learning, we are helping every child feel that they belong. We are proud to create opportunities that celebrate identity, strengthen community and keep culture alive on and off the court.

Koorie Academy Basketball has three upcoming school-holiday events across Victoria. Save the dates and join us for basketball, culture, healing and community.

Monday 21 September | 9am–12pm
Tiddas Clinic — GRISS, Traralgon
Girls are invited to take part in a basketball clinic and cultural workshop, alongside Melbourne United’s United for Her program and the Gippsland Wrens. Participants will receive a t-shirt, basketball and drink bottle, plus a sports bra for those aged 9 and over. Free.
