**STABILITY ISN’T ONLY ABOUT MAKING A WING AS RIGID AS POSSIBLE.**
That distinction sits at the heart of the new **AirDesign Exta**.
Rather than relying solely on extreme structural stiffness, AirDesign deliberately balanced parakite stability with more progressive, paraglider-like behaviour outside the normal flight envelope.
Why does that matter?
A highly rigid parakite may strongly resist deformation — but if a significant collapse does occur, its reaction can be more abrupt.
The Exta takes a different approach.
Its profile, internal structure and pyramid-shaped D-lines are designed to produce more familiar paraglider-like collapse behaviour and actively assist reopening following a frontal collapse. Progressive brake travel and a clearly defined stall point provide further familiarity and feedback.
Although this behaviour was developed with demanding mountain conditions in mind, the Exta certainly doesn’t need to be flown in the mountains.
