It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Neil Hinton, a truly cherished and deeply respected member of the athletics community.
Neil dedicated countless years not only to Wyong Athletics, but to athletics at every level across the community from zone, regional and state competitions to school carnivals, representative pathways and athletics boards. He travelled extensively in support of the sport he loved, generously giving his time as a coach, mentor, official and volunteer. His unwavering support, knowledge and encouragement impacted countless athletes, families and fellow volunteers, leaving a legacy within athletics that will never be forgotten.
Neilβs legacy extends far beyond results and records. He helped shape the culture of Wyong Athletics a club built on family, opportunity, inclusion and volunteerism. Generations of athletes, officials and families benefited from his time, humour, wisdom and unwavering commitment to the sport.
For many of us, Neil was simply always there encouraging from the sidelines, mentoring quietly behind the scenes, lending a hand wherever it was needed and giving everything he had to ensure others could succeed and enjoy the sport he loved so deeply.
Personally, Neil was someone I had known for most of my life and, like so many others, I will always remember his kindness, generosity and the genuine care he showed to everyone around him. He was one of the truly good people in our athletics community, respected not only for all he achieved, but for the person he was.
Our thoughts, love and deepest condolences are with Jan and all of Neilβs family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you, Neil, for everything you gave to athletics, to Wyong and to the many lives you touched along the way. Your impact will continue to live on through this community for generations to come.
You will be deeply missed, proudly remembered and forever part of Wyong Athletics. ππ ποΈ
