We chased members mid-session with a mini mic.
No time to think.
No polished answers.
Just sweaty people telling us why they keep showing up.
The answers weren’t dramatic.
Routine.
Friends.
Confidence.
Consistency.
Learning they can lift heavy and do it properly.
And that says a lot.
Because walking in the first time is one thing.
But coming back when work is full on, when your head’s busy, when you could easily talk yourself out of it?
That’s the real shift.
Training becomes more than the session.
It becomes the thing in your week that keeps you connected, capable, and harder to knock off track.
That’s what our members said without trying to make it sound fancy.
What would your answer be?

“I don’t have that today.”

We heard a few versions of that this week.

Usually followed by pacing, staring at the bar, negotiating with themselves, and a generous amount of swearing.

The funny thing is, the weight didn’t care.

It didn’t care what happened the last time they tried it.
It didn’t care how confident they felt.
It didn’t care what story they’d already decided was true.

The bar got loaded.

They stepped up.

And more often than not, the story lost.

That’s my favourite part of testing week.

Not the PB itself.

The moment someone realises they were arguing for a limit that didn’t actually exist.

A lot of new PBs this week.

A lot of people proving themselves wrong.

And, judging by the language in the room, a lot of emotional support provided by profanity.

Winter makes the excuses easier.
The bed feels better.
The house feels warmer.
Training feels like more effort.
But one missed session isn’t the problem.
Letting every winter become a reset is.
Don’t become a seasonal gym goer.

Message “WINTER” and we’ll map out your next 21 days of training so you know exactly what to do.

Archie doesn’t just watch Chris train.
He copies him.

Most sessions, he’s right there while Chris gets his work done.
Then when Dad finishes, Archie’s ready with his own push-ups and burpees like he’s been studying the whole session. (Great technique, by the way)

That tells you a lot about Chris.
He’s 31, loud in the best way, usually smiling, and usually carrying some random fact nobody asked for.
He’s also the bloke who backs the person next to him, then makes sure they don’t settle when there’s more there.
But the best part isn’t just what Chris brings to the room.
It’s what Archie gets to see.
Dad showing up.
Dad putting in the work.
Dad making his health something normal.
Chris trains with his little boy watching.
And Archie is already joining in.
That’s the bit we love most.
Drop Chris and Archie some love 👏

Soon, TRIBAL turns 1.

Over the last 12 months I’ve learned a lot about coaching, business, leadership, and myself.

Over the June long weekend I took three days off-grid to get some space and think.

What I came home with wasn’t a new business strategy.

It was certainty.

Certainty around who we’re here for.

What we stand for.

And what we stand against.

Here’s what I know:

We’re not here for quick fixes.

We’re not here for transformation challenges.

We’re not here to sell motivation.

We’re here for people who want to become stronger, more capable versions of themselves.

We’re here for people who want to train consistently, build confidence, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

We’re here to make a positive impact in Lake Mac, one person at a time.

The future of TRIBAL won’t be shaped by what the fitness industry says a gym should be.

It’ll be shaped by the people who trust us with their health, their goals, and their time.

As we head into year two, that’s exactly what we’ll keep building.

Mel hated gyms.

Which made things interesting… because after surviving a heart attack 4 years ago, she knew her health had to come first.

She’d already lost weight.

But she was still waking up stiff, sore and sorry.

Getting out of bed felt harder than it should.
Running multiple businesses was taking everything she had.
And walking into a gym?

No thanks.

Mel and I started working together at the end of October.

Since then, it hasn’t been neat.

There were weeks where work took over.
Weeks where her body wasn’t playing the game.
Weeks where she could’ve easily pulled the pin.

But she kept coming back.

Now the woman who hated gyms actually loves coming here.

Not because it suddenly became easy.

Because she knows she can walk in, complain, swear like a sailor, do the work, and still belong.

That’s Mel.

54. Multi-business owner. Heart attack survivor. Gym hater turned TRIBAL regular.

And we’re bloody proud of her.

If walking into a gym feels intimidating, or like everyone else already knows what they’re doing, send us a message.

Come have a chat.

Whether it’s a hack, a quick fix, rapid results, or something you think will do the work for you…

Most people are not stuck because they’ve missed the secret.

They’re stuck because their nutrition has no structure, their weekends undo their weekdays, or they’re guessing and hoping good intentions will turn into results.

The boring answer still wins:

A calorie deficit you can stick to.
Enough protein.
Training that supports the goal.
Consistency across the whole week, not just Monday to Thursday.

And yes, even if medication is part of the picture, the basics still matter.

You’re probably not failing because you need another hack.

Comment BIRDS 👇 and I’ll look over your nutrition and what’s stopping progress.

One missed week shouldn’t turn into three months gone.

But that’s how it happens.

You miss one.
Then a few more.
Then it feels awkward to go back.
So next week becomes next month.

And no one’s even noticed you’ve disappeared.

That’s what stings.

Your direct debit noticed you were a member.
But no one noticed you weren’t there.

So you start thinking:

“Maybe I’m just not someone who sticks to the gym.”

But starting was never the problem.

It’s what happens after the week you miss.

That’s where things usually fall apart.

And that’s where we pay attention.

Getting you back before embarrassment talks you out of it.

Message me HONEST and we’ll talk about where it normally falls apart.

Most people don’t suddenly quit training.

They slowly stop showing up.

Then the routine breaks.
Then the gym starts feeling awkward.
Then “I’ll go tomorrow” turns into 4 months disappearing without really noticing it happen.

That’s why a lot of adults struggle in big gyms.

Not because they’re lazy.

Because nothing interrupts the drift.

Nobody notices when you disappear.
Nobody expects you back.

And for a lot of people, that matters more than the program itself.

Meet the TRIBAL Plastics.

They’re basically the worst.

Always showing up.
Always hyping each other.
Always making the gym feel like it’s not terrifying.

Disgusting behaviour, honestly.
