๐ Weekend Match Round-Up: Mixed Results & Heartbreak Against Uni
It was a massive weekend of football for Warners Bay FC as we took on University. While there was plenty of grit, determination, and a fantastic win for our Conference League boys, football can be a cruel game, and we left the park with a few tough pills to swallow.
Here is how all the action unfolded:
๐ Conference League (Third Grade)
Warners Bay FC 2 โ 1 University
Our Conference League side set the standard for the weekend with a brilliant, hard-fought victory. The boys showed incredible composure and teamwork to secure a 2-1 win over a tough Uni outfit. A fantastic performance to grab all three points!
๐ Reserve Grade
Warners Bay FC 0 โ 3 University
A tough day at the office for Reserves. Despite putting in the yards, things just didn't click on the park, and Uni managed to clinical capitalise on their chances, leaving us with a 0-3 loss. We dust ourselves down, learn from it, and bounce back next week.
๐ First Grade
Warners Bay FC 1 โ 1 University
Football at its most heartbreaking. The Firsts put in a stellar shift and held a well-deserved 1-0 lead as the clock ticked over to the 90-minute mark. However, a massive 9 minutes of extra time and a controversial decision that went against us allowed Uni to find an equalizer right at the death. The boys deserved all three points, but they walked away with a highly respectable, albeit frustrating, draw.
๐๏ธ Women's Zone League
Warners Bay FC 3 โ 5 University
An absolute roller-coaster of a match at John Street Field! The ladies found themselves in a tough spot early, tracking 0-2 down within the first 10 minutes. Showing immense Panther pride and character, the team fought all the way back to take a phenomenal 3-2 lead. Unfortunately, after emptying the tank, we ran out of sting late in the game, allowing Uni to sn**ch a 5-3 win. An incredible effort that deserved more!
๐ค Go the Panthers!
Thank you to all the supporters who came out to cheer the teams on. We win together, we learn together. See you at training this week as we prepare to bounce back stronger!
