❤️🖤 WARIALDA WOMBATS — LAST HOME GAME OF THE SEASON 🖤❤️
‘TRIBUTE FOR CHOG’
There was no better place to be on Saturday 15th August than Jim Payne Oval, Warialda. ❤️🖤
What a truly special day it was as our Wombats family came together for our final home game of the 2026 season and, most importantly, to celebrate, honour and remember Chog.
It was so beautiful to see our wonderful sponsors, supporters, players, volunteers, families and friends all come together for a man who meant so much to our club and community. The support shown throughout the entire day was something we will never forget.
🏉 LADIES LEAGUE TAG
The day started early with our ladies taking the field against the Inverell Hawks. Unfortunately, the girls didn’t come away with the win, but as they have done all season, they turned up with passion, determination and pride.
No matter the result, these girls continue to support one another, stick together and enjoy playing the game they love. We are incredibly proud of the bond they have built this season. ❤️
🏉 RESERVE GRADE
Our Reserve Grade boys were up next against a strong Hawks side who were just too good on the day.
But our boys kept turning up and playing in great spirit, and on a day as special as this one, it was about so much more than the scoreboard. They wore the Wombats jersey with pride and played in honour of Chog. 🖤❤️
🏅 LIFE MEMBERSHIP
A very special part of the day was having the honour of presenting Leon Cross and Billy Reardon with Life Membership of the Warialda Rugby League Football Club.
This is a wonderful recognition of their contribution, commitment and support of our club over the years. Congratulations Leon and Billy — two very deserving recipients and now forever recognised as part of the history of the Warialda Wombats. ❤️🖤
🏉 A-GRADE
Our A-Grade side finished off the day wearing the specially designed Tribute for Chog jerseys.
Unfortunately, we had a number of players carrying injuries or unavailable, but the boys who could take the field made the effort to be there and proudly pull on that special jersey.
Seeing our boys run onto Jim Payne Oval wearing those jerseys in Chog’s memory was an incredibly special moment. They played with pride and represented exactly what this day was all about — mateship, memories, community and the love of footy.
Congratulations to the Inverell Hawks on their three wins on Saturday, and we wish them all the best as the season continues.
❤️🖤 THANK YOU 🖤❤️
A massive thank you to everyone who came along and supported the day. To our sponsors, volunteers, committee, players, supporters and everyone who helped behind the scenes — days like this simply wouldn’t happen without you.
The Tribute for Chog jersey auction back at The Royal Hotel was an incredible success, and the support and generosity shown absolutely blew us away.
Also massive thanks to JA MCGREGOR LIVESTOCK AND PROPERTY for sponsoring our old boys day! Thanks to sharky, Nikita & Luke for doing our auction!
We walked away from Saturday feeling overwhelmed, grateful and incredibly proud of what our little club and community can achieve when everyone comes together.
It wasn’t just our last home game.
It wasn’t just about football.
It was a day for Chog. ❤️🖤
A day filled with stories, laughs, mateship and memories. A day celebrating someone who loved his footy and will forever hold a special place within the Warialda Wombats.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Tribute for Chog a day we will remember for many years to come.
❤️🖤 FOREVER A WOMBAT. FOREVER REMEMBERED. 🖤❤️
