The SSAA Rimfire TOP GUN Shooter of the Year results were announced yesterday, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way Newcastle Smallbore & Air R***e Club was represented.

To have 2 of our members finish in the Top 3 and 7 members in the Top 10 is a wonderful result for our club and a real reflection of the effort, dedication and support shown by so many of our members.

Congratulations to everyone involved. It’s a result the whole club can be proud of — and another reminder that sometimes, the little club really can.

In Memory of Our Life Member - Raymond Fuller

It is with both sadness and gratitude that we remember the passing of our valued Life Member, Ray Fuller.

For many years, Ray was an important part of our club. His dedication, friendship, and contribution helped shape the club into what it is today. Whether through countless hours of volunteering, supporting fellow members, welcoming new members, or simply sharing his passion and enthusiasm for our sport, he left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well lived and the many memories he has left with us.

Ray’s legacy will continue to be felt throughout our club for years and in dedication of his, and his late friend and fellow life member, Nick Harris, we will be holding a Morning Tea and Plaque Dedication Ceremony on:
📅 Sunday, 23rd August 2026�🕙 Time: 9:00am

This will be an opportunity for members and friends of Ray to come together, share memories, and pay tribute to someone who meant so much to our club community.
We hope you can join us as we celebrate the life, friendship, and lasting legacy of Ray.

He will be greatly missed, fondly remembered, and forever a part of our club's great history.

Practice will kick off at 8:00am, with the Air R***e Competition at 8:30 sharp. Rimfire competition to kick off after morning tea around 10:10am. Range closed during the morning tea remembrance, 9:00 - 10:00.

A big day at NSBARC today with most of the benches filled.
In light winds and 3 competition shoots there was some very good scores in each discipline.
In the very frustrating Unlimited Air, Rob Rob with his blue flash scored 237 and Shane F using old faithful a close 2nd with 232.
Kris L made good in the Hunter with 244 followed by David R with 239
In Light Rimfire Rob W took it out with a welcome 250.15 followed closely by Allan M & Jason R, both with 248.13

Next week a few members of NSBARC will be in Shepparton, Vic competing in the Victorian RBA Championships.

That’s a wrap for the NSW State Championship. Six events held over 4 very different weather days, from blowing a gale and rain coming in sideways, to moderate winds today in the sun.
A big thanks to all volunteers that assisted throughout the 4 days.
It was a pleasure to host many visiting competitors.

Safe travels for those returning home out of the area.

Big thanks to NSW Government grant that assisted our great club engineer, design and construct our bullet catchers on the range. They have been a massive improvement in the range.

Day 1 of the NSW RBA Smallbore Championships, conducted at NSBARC, was held in overcast and windy conditions presenting challenges to all the competitors in the 25m Air R***e events.

In the 25m Light Air R***e, Greg Schneider from Qld was 1st with locals Jason Robbs & Rob Robertson filling 2nd & 3rd places.

In the 25m Heavy Air R***e, Kurt Strassmeir was 1st, Greg Schneider was 2nd and Brett Delaney 3rd.

Today we face the challenges of 50m Unlimited Air R***e in what may be quite adverse conditions.

A good turn out of volunteers for todays working bee. Between showers work continued on the 25m target frames and are ready for a try out tomorrow.

A great day by all the volunteers that turn up for the working bee today. Together we progess significantly with the 25m target frames so another good day on Friday will see the range open for normal comp on Saturday.
