So...
Last night at the Goulburn Workers Club at Wrestling for Charity - Australia Overdrive I as the Assistant comminsioner and ICW General Manager worked alongside my commissioner John L. Reid,
To introduce the new Interwebs Championship.
This title can be defended anywhere in Australia in any wrestling promotion!
It was my honour to stipulate what match I could've announced it for.
Maybe it would've been a jump-start One-Eyed Mad Man: John L. Crossfire redemption tour but john is the number one contender for icw heavyweight championship and G-Mac needed more in ring time before he had the right to hold a championship.
Maybe the start to the main show? But there was already title implications.
Hey... make it interesting i could've announced the winner of the memorial battle royal to also win the interwebs title but it would've taken away from the moment of John awarding the Paul Reid memorial shield.
Hell i could've picked the main event but Jake Gibson - Pro Wrestler does not deserve another title to gloat about...
Well, Let me take you back.
Just over 6 months ago a "young" Gmac began training at the ICW performance centre entered the ring to learn the art of wrestling.
On his lunch breaks he was busy playing with his bay blades and yugio cards...
He was a geek, some cosplaying mark wanting to play wrestler.
Gmac instantly took to wrestling. Sceptical at first, some of his trainers said 'he isn't ready'.
But I'm an opportunistic General manager.
After begging me for a chance.
I figured at ICW insane asylum I could chuck him in the rumble match. Gmac not only over achieved expectations but was the star of the match.
Then Revenge came around. I needed a challenger for the ICW Heavyweight Champion Rex. Gmac contacted me for an opportunity when no one else accepted the challenge. He was warned ahead of time he was not ready to take on a champion. Whilst it was a one sided affair. Gmac showed true heart... a heart of a Champion.
But I did believe he was not ready. Last night. He was the loser against his 'buddy' John. But he proved he can hang with the top stars so I gave him another opportunity in the battle royal. When push came to shove he manned up and took it to Ryan Jacobs - Pro Wrestler who was a thorn in his side all night long. When he and Ryan interrupted my main event announcement. I knew he was worthy to be Champion.
And introducing the NEW Interwebs Champion. Gmac!!
