🏆 QLD STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS – TANSEY 🏆

What a way to finish off a fantastic 2026 polocrosse season for Wandoan!

We had a great contingent of Wandoan players head to Tansey over the weekend for the QLD State Championships, with 3 Open teams, 1 Women’s team, 1 Junior team and 2 of our little Subbies taking to the field.

🏆 OPEN MEN – A GRADE BEATEN TEAMS WINNERS
Our Open Men’s first side finished their weekend on a high, taking out the A Grade Beaten Teams Final!
A big congratulations to Cam Rogan, who was named Man of the Match for the final. 👏

Our second Open side fought hard throughout the weekend, making it through to the C Grade semi-final, where they went down to a strong Rockhampton side.

Our third Open side might not have got a win on the board, but they had a great weekend, plenty of laughs and represented Wandoan well!

💚 WOMEN
Our Women’s team put together a great weekend of polocrosse, finishing with 2 wins and 2 losses and placing 3rd overall in the Women’s competition. A fantastic effort!

🏆 JUNIORS – B GRADE WINNERS
Our Juniors had an outstanding weekend, taking out the B Grade Junior competition!

The team consisted of:
Will Bowling, Emily Bowling, Mitch Bowling, Max Moore, Hilton Moore and Harry Wade from Warwick, who joined our Wandoan crew for the weekend. Thanks Harry — we loved having you on the team! 💚

There were also some fantastic individual awards:
⭐ Emily Bowling – Junior Girl Encouragement Award
⭐ Max Moore – Junior Boy Encouragement Award
⭐ Mitch Bowling – Best B Grade Junior Player

🐴 SUBBIE SPECTACULAR
Our two little Subbies, Bonnie Trail and Hilton Moore, took part in the Subbie Spectacular on Saturday afternoon and did an amazing job! — what a great experience for our youngest players and something we’re sure they’ll remember!

A huge congratulations to all of our players, horses, coaches, families and supporters who made the trip to Tansey and helped out over the weekend.

It was a brilliant way to wrap up another fantastic season for Wandoan Polocrosse. We’re incredibly proud of all our members, from our littlest Subbies right through to our Open players. 💚

Well done Wandoan — bring on 2027! 🐴

❗️❌ Goondiwindi Polocrosse is cancelled 😭

"Due to the unprecedented weather conditions and the current state of our fields at this stage of our field improvements, which are not at the standard we pride ourselves on providing, our club has made the difficult decision to cancel our 2026 carnival.

We would like to sincerely thank all clubs who support our carnival and were planning to attend in July. As a small club, your continued support means a great deal to us and we truly appreciate your understanding.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2027 with improved fields, following the ongoing work made possible through the generous support and contributions of our club members and local businesses.

Thank you again for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you all next year."

Always a tough decision for a club to make, but we can appreciate their dedication to represent polocrosse so well, and provide the absolute best carnival for everyone.

🔎 MISSING POLOCROSSE RACQUET 🔎

We’re trying to track down a missing polocrosse racquet that was misplaced around the rodeo ring area at the Wandoan Carnival on Saturday afternoon.

If anyone picked it up, moved it for safekeeping, or knows where it may have ended up, could you please get in touch or comment below.

We’d really appreciate everyone’s help in getting it back to its owner. Thanks in advance!

⏰ NOMINATIONS ⏰

Please don’t forget the Tansey Polocrosse Development Carnival nominations will be a little different to regular carnival nominations!

➡️Your club’s players must ALL be entered as pool players (not teams)

➡️Must be entered by MONDAY 15th June before the carnival (not the Thursday!)

This carnival will be one of the highlights of the year, think - mixed teams, coaching, development based with lots of laughs and smiles. Truely what Polocrosse is all about!

We cannot wait to see you all there!

|| Let’s Take A Minute ||

On Sunday we observed a minutes silence to honour two club members who have recently passed, Nip Nelder & Joy Baker. They are apart of our rich history and the foundation of our sport.

Nip Nelder was a member of the Wandoan Club who never played however his three sons did. Nip and his son Lenny built the wooden stalls for the 1988 State Championships held in Wandoan. They cut lancewood rails from “Cooaga” and loaded them by hand into their blue international acco truck during the week and carted them to the Showgrounds on weekends to build the stables.

Joy Baker was our club treasurer for fifteen years. The story goes that one year at the club AGM, Bill Blackley the president at the time called for the treasurers report and Joy, the treasurer replied ‘I’m not happy with this report’, to which Bill, thinking the club had run a loss replied ‘Why not??’ Joy replied ‘No, I’m ten cents out’. With that Keith Bowling took out his wallet and said, ‘Here Joy I will give you the ten cents to make up the difference’, Joy replied ‘Sit down Keith, that will make me twenty cents out…’

In 1995 Joy and Ian Baker received life memberships to the Wandoan Polocrosse Club and they were both patrons of the club for a long period of time.

Our thoughts are with their friends and family.
