Today is the Winter Solstice, which marks the midpoint of winter and the shortest day of the year. Although this might not mean much for baseball, it does mean something quite exciting… Opening Day is now on the horizon, meaning that we are well and truly on our way to the 26/27 baseball season, and I don't know about you, but I for one can't wait.

In the coming days, please keep an eye out for information regarding our upcoming season and our first Come and Try Day. Until then, enjoy the shortest day of the year!

🧢 AGM Venue Update – Tonight’s Meeting Still On!

📍 NEW VENUE: The Kwinana Local, 1 Chisham Ave, Kwinana Town Centre

Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Wellard is no longer available for tonight’s AGM.
We’re pleased to confirm that the meeting will now be held at The Kwinana Local.

The AGM will proceed as planned — same time, same purpose, same community spirit.
We’ll be electing a new committee and setting the direction for the 2026/27 season, so please come along and show your support for the Blue Jays.

Thank you for your flexibility and commitment to the club.

Important AGM Update – Venue Change in Progress

Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Wellard is no longer available for tonight’s AGM. We know this is short notice, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding.

We are currently securing an alternate venue and will confirm the new location as soon as possible. The AGM will still proceed this evening at 6:00 PM, and we encourage all members to attend and support the club as we elect a brand‑new committee for the coming season.

This year, we’ll be electing an entirely new committee — a fresh team to guide the club into the 2026/27 season. Your attendance matters. Your voice matters. And your support is what keeps community clubs like ours alive.

The AGM isn’t just a formality. It’s where we set the direction for the year ahead, celebrate what we’ve achieved, and make sure the Blue Jays remain strong, stable, and ready for the future. As we head into the final days before the AGM, we’re highlighting the remaining roles that help keep the Blue Jays running strong. Every one of these positions plays a part in building a successful, well‑organised, community‑driven club.

Here’s a quick look at the roles still open for nomination:

Fundraising & Events Coordinator — Plans and delivers fundraising activities and club events that support our programs and community.

Media & Advertising Coordinator — Manages social media, promotions, and club communications to keep members informed and engaged.

Sponsorship & Grants Coordinator — Secures sponsorships and identifies grant opportunities to support club growth and sustainability.

Canteen & Bar Manager — Oversees the canteen and bar operations, ensuring smooth service on game days and events.

Merchandise Coordinator — Manages club merchandise, uniforms, and stock to keep players and supporters looking sharp.

Property & Equipment Manager — Maintains club equipment and facilities so teams have what they need to train and compete.

Head Coach & Development Coordinator — Leads coaching standards and player development across all grades.

Head Umpire — Oversees umpire appointments, development, and rule consistency throughout the club.

As we continue our lead‑up to the AGM, we’re shining a light on another essential role that keeps the Blue Jays organised and competition‑ready: the Registrar.

The Registrar is the link between our club, our members, and the Associations we play under. Without a Registrar, we can’t register players, enter competitions, or meet our administrative obligations — making this role vital to the club’s ability to take the field each season.

What does the Registrar do?
The Registrar ensures every player is correctly registered and that our club remains compliant with Baseball WA (BWA) procedures. Key responsibilities include:
- Registering all players in accordance with BWA and LLWA requirements
- Maintaining accurate documentation for all registered members
- Organising registration days and coordinating local advertising (with the Media & Advertising Coordinator)
- Providing updated player lists to code secretaries, coaches, and team managers

This role suits someone who is organised, communicative, and enjoys helping players and families get started each season. You don’t need prior experience — just a willingness to learn and support the club’s operations.

As we continue highlighting the key roles that keep the Blue Jays running, today we’re focusing on one of the most important positions for the club’s stability and future: the Treasurer.

The Treasurer is the financial heartbeat of the club — the person who ensures our accounts are accurate, our reporting is transparent, and our operations stay compliant. Without a Treasurer, the club cannot meet its governance requirements, making this role vital to our ability to continue as an incorporated association.

What does the Treasurer do?
The Treasurer oversees the club’s finances and supports several core areas of club activity. Key responsibilities include:
- Keeping all financial records accurate and up to date
- Preparing a monthly financial report for the committee
- Ensuring all signatories remain current
- Overseeing the functioning of the canteen and bar, and liaising with the Canteen/Bar Manager
- Collecting and reconciling all registration payments
- Acting as a signatory for cheques and approvals

This role suits someone who is organised, trustworthy, and comfortable working with numbers. You don’t need to be an accountant — just someone who can manage records, communicate clearly, and support the club’s financial health.
