Royal Walwa Matchplay Final – Coronation Day
The Final of the Royal Walwa Golf Club Matchplay Championship was played today in absolutely perfect conditions. Unfortunately for T rev, that was the only thing perfect within a 10 kilometre radius of his golf game.
Ladies and gentlemen, please rise, remove your caps, and bow deeply to our newly crowned Annual King of Matchplay – Paul Jeffries. His Majesty played steady, composed, annoyingly reliable golf from the first round right through to today’s finale. T rev, on the other hand… well… let’s just say his highlight reel began with an out of bounds tee shot on the very first hole. It was a bold opening statement, and things only went downhill from there — faster than a runaway cart into the gully on the 6th.
Paul, being both the victor and a compassionate humanitarian, felt so guilty about dismantling T rev’s hopes and dreams that he bought him coffee and lunch. A touching gesture, considering the final score was a devastating 7 and 6, which in medical terms is classified as ‘severe golfing trauma’.
Witnesses report that T rev was last seen muttering incoherently and wandering toward the riverbank. Rumour has it that if anyone is in the market for a slightly traumatised, gently used set of golf clubs, T rev can provide the GPS coordinates. All you’ll need is a small boat, a pair of goggles, and a willingness to retrieve equipment from what is now officially known as River of Regret.
Long live King Paul. Someone please check on T rev.
