Better late then never -
Last weekend we headed to Alexandra to take on the 3hr Enduro. We teamed up with good mate Dennis Reid, and I got to run the No. 54, a number I hold in high regard.
They wanted all 26 teams out for the final, so our heats were hot laps/practice. The car felt good, so it was fuelled up and ready to go when it was my time.
Dennis started the final and was going good, then we noticed a small amount of smoke and over the next lap or two he slowed up. So my turn was up earlier than expected.
After climbing in and having everyone help with the safety gear, we got out on track. Just trying to find my groove and run good, consistent laps as I had a long stint ahead.
With a slower car pulling down on me and causing some body damage, it resulted in us getting a flat tyre, so to the pits I went with the crew on standby to fix her up. Some panel repair, a new tyre and some fuel, and I got some water in as well, and we were back out on track.
Then there were two cars in front that got together, leaving me nowhere to go - broken right front arm.
Back on the tow truck to the pits, where the crew went straight to work. Front end repaired, more fuel, I got some more tear-offs and water, and a smoke 🤣
We were back out on track, just trying to get to the end, but the gearbox had different ideas with 30 mins to go. With second gone, we retired back to the pits for good.
Definitely ended up with more crew than we thought we would, but can’t thank the people enough that jumped in to help and kept us going all day - Shan, Casey, Ayden, Dennis, Bree, The whole Berger crew, Rhys Meakins & Jasmin Kettles.
Thanks again everyone ❤️
Finally, thank you to all our sponsors…
