Behind every successful basketball program is a team of dedicated volunteers.

Wallan Basketball’s non-board volunteers help turn plans into action. They support the delivery and development of our Junior Domestic and Representative programs and help create a positive experience for players, coaches and families.

We are now seeking nominations for several volunteer roles.

Ready to hit the court this summer? Get your team together and lock in your spot!

Team Captains must complete the Team EOI form:

Spaces are limited! Once we reach our team limit, the EOI form will be turned off—so don’t delay.

After completing the form, Team Captains will receive a link for players to register directly to their team.

Important: Every team must have at least four players registered by 20 September or they will not be fixtured.

Great clubs are built by people who lead through their actions.

The junior player who helps an opponent up.
The teammate who always says, “Good try.”
The volunteer who gives their time, energy and heart to our basketball community.

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Wallan Basketball Annual Awards.

MALE & FEMALE SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS

We’re seeking one female and one male junior player from our domestic or representative basketball programs who consistently:

• Show a positive attitude and give their best
• Encourage and support their teammates
• Respect opponents, referees and the rules
• Accept wins, losses and referee decisions with maturity
• Demonstrate kindness and outstanding sportsmanship on and off the court

Please note: Parents and guardians cannot nominate their own child for a Sportsmanship Award.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

This award recognises someone who made a significant volunteer contribution to WBI between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026 through:

• Outstanding commitment to the Wallan Basketball community
• Reliability, positivity, flexibility and initiative
• Generously giving their personal time
• Living the Wallan Basketball culture and values

Current WBI Board and Committee members are not eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award.

To nominate, email the person’s name, award category and the reasons they deserve recognition to [email protected].

Nominations close Friday 9 October.

All three award recipients will be assessed and selected by the WBI Board.

A CONVERSATION CAN CHANGE THE GAME.

On the basketball court, we look out for our teammates.

We pick them up when they fall.
We encourage them when things get tough.
We celebrate the wins together.
But being a good teammate goes beyond basketball.

Sometimes, the most important thing we can do is simply ask:
“R U OK?”

You don’t need to have all the answers. You don’t need to fix everything. Starting a conversation and genuinely listening can make more of a difference than you realise.

This R U OK? Day, check in with a teammate, coach, volunteer, parent, friend or family member.

Because a conversation can change the game.

Big V is becoming the Victorian Basketball League! This next chapter honours 25 years of our senior competition and creates a clearer, connected pathway alongside VJBL and NBL1 South — and our Wallan Panthers are ready for a massive 2026/27 VBL season.

And suddenly that registration you were definitely going to do has slipped down the list.

So here’s your reminder.

There are only 11 DAYS LEFT to register for the Wallan Basketball Junior Domestic Summer Season.

If your child wants to hit the court this Summer, now is the time to lock it in.

Junior basketball is a great way to stay active, improve skills, build confidence and make new friends.
