70th Anniversary of the Wallagoot Lake Boat Club

After a public meeting, held on the 12th July 1955, twelve residents resolved to form the Bega Sailing Club. Mr S. Stiller was elected the Club’s first President and a membership fee of £1.1.0 was charged.
The Club’s name was changed on several occasions before the current title was established. On the 5th January 1956, the Club was called the Wallagoot Lake Sailing Club. Wallagoot Lake Power and Sailing Club was suggested on 6th February 1956, with the current title being passed on the 9th April 1956.
The “Constitution and Bye-Laws of the Wallagoot Lake Boat Club” were drawn up at a Special General Meeting held on the 29th August 1956.
The Club was formed with no assets and with the intention of fostering and promoting sailing, power boating and water skiing by providing organised competition and an acceptable standard of amenities at Wallagoot Lake. It has been these basic aims that the Club has grown and prospered and overcome difficult periods.
The ongoing objectives of the Club are to:
(a) conduct, encourage, promote, advance and administer Sailing and Water Sports throughout the local area;
(b) advance the operations and activities of the Club throughout the local area;
(c) have regard to the public interest in its operations; and
(d) undertake and or do all such things or activities which are necessary, incidental or conducive to the advancement of these Objects.

Would sailors please let Rob know which days they prefer, or cannot attend, as Officers of the Day?
We look forward to the sailing season starting on Saturday 26/09/26. 1 month left to get your boat ready!
