Who remembers these old built-in wall oil heaters that lived in every Aussie house?
The Vulcan (or whatever brand) sitting in the brick wall, looking like a TV you weren’t allowed to touch… until winter hit and Dad goes “DON’T STAND TOO CLOSE” like it’s a campfire. 😭
You’d crank it on and it would take 10 minutes to warm up, then suddenly it’s nuclear heat on your shins while the rest of the room is still freezing. And the smell… that first-time-in-months “dust burn” smell that basically was winter.
